Might be over 10 years ago, but thanks for organising. What more can you ask for? Double headers, parallel running and some great photo stops! :) I reckon this was one of the most memorable trips from the WCR days.

Excellent tour, and one that I was extremley proud off, I had to two weeks to organize it, and I came up with what you saw there, double headed R's first time ever paralel run up Warrenhiep with two R's and there was a banker train as well with one R at either end. Then the T Classes on the return. Thanks for sharing, it was great to see it again

It's honestly a shame that R711 lost its dual exhaust system, it sounded nice.

Yeah it was a good video from Steam Media. I like to think of this as just adding a different perspective. :) It was certainly a memorable trip anyway. Pity we can't have photostops like this anymore.

These engines, especially 711, sound almost exactly like Linda and Blanche on the Ffestiniog Railway.

can someone tell me about the dog box carriages that appear at 4:05? were these carriages never converted for suburban electrics or from south australia or what? i've trawled the internet and can't find out about them.
@hudson7075 жыл бұрын
vsv nrg they’re actually V class cars, very similar to the Dogboxes but they had gangways for use on country trains. They were never used on suburban services

Was R 711 already an oil burner at the time this video was filmed?

TheForceOfMusic101 yes it was

The two locomotives seem to have slightly different driver diameters as the exhausts drift in and out of sync. It doesn't seem to bother their performance any. NICE!

roy reynolds, could it be very small amounts of wheel slip? i would image that there is a small amount of wheel slip on all steam locos especially at the point of maximum leverage as the wheels go round. remember its steel on steel. great show.

R711 had a Dual exhaust and "Super R" Conversion Modswhile 766 was a bog standard R.
