Jinnah certainly made a great blunder when in 1948 he categorically declared in Dhaka that Urdu and Urdu shall be the only state language of Pakistan. It was not a slip of the tongue as Dr. Hashmi claimed. Mr. Jinnah reiterated his statement more than once in Dhaka in 1948 .That was a policy statement. Jinnah was not an unknown figure even in 1916, Jinnah came to be known as the Ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity in that year for his tireless efforts to forge unity between the Hindus and the Muslims. Fazlul Huq was termed "Sher-e-Bangla" for the first time in 1937 after his forceful advocacy of the Muslim cause in Lucknow in a speech in Urdu.The people attending the public meeting chanted spontaneously the term for the first time. Why should Huq sb purchase land or built a house in Gulshan or Banani? The place was then a deserted barren place.

Regarding Direct Action Days riot in Calcutta and Noakhali Riot in 1946 Taj Hasmi lied. Suhrawarddy organized a mass murder in Calcutta so that the Hindus would run away and Calcutta would be included in Pakistan. At least 100,000 Muslims gathered in Maidan in Calcutta on 16 August 1946 and Suhrawarddy told them “do what you like”. He took charge of the central police station and was directing his Pathan police to the areas to kill Hindus. It was highly organized with thousands of Muslim workers from Howrah came with weapons. The riot stopped only when Gopal Mukherjee and his team retaliated on 18 august 1946. Between 16 th and 18 that least 10,000 Hindus were killed in Calcutta. On 21 August Suhrawarddy was sacked and direct rule by the Vice Roy was imposed. In Noakhali at least 5000 Hindus were killed and in one occasion 400 Hindus were killed in the house of Roy Chowdhury. I do not understand why Taj Hasmi lied so much to glorify Suhrawarddy. A killer is a killer.
