What is the point of the crates? They seem functionally equivalent to points. Meaning, you could just take points instead of crates, not have the crate pieces at all, and it wouldn't change the gameplay. Unless I'm missing something.

This looks amazing! Thank you for addressing that the expansion fits into the base game box. I'm hoping that is also the case for the Pharaoh Edition. I wish 25th Century Games had prototypes of the Acrylic version ready to show. It's a tough decision which version to get.

It's a long running thing with our channel. She's a non-gamer and isn't as finely in tune with gaming or picking up the rules of a game like a gamer is. It's not rude if that's what the channel is built on...

@@torelaursen4139fair. You should definitely go with your thinking. I’m getting the deluxe edition anyways so for an extra $20 and no change in shipping I’m grabbing the expansion. Getting it afterwords will cost me at least double, if they even have any left, so there’s a bit of FOMO there for sure. But honestly I think they will significantly change how you evaluate when and how much to bid on a given set of tiles with very little rules overhead which is exactly how I would want an expansion to affect this game. If you asked me a week ago if I’d want an expansion to Ra I would have said no but I’m actually quite excited about it now that I see how it will work.

Not sure this really adds much to the base game. I think a change to the bidding mechanic may have been better.

I think it will change how you think about each set of tiles you are drawing on. A few boats early people will jump on. Later boats will be less attractive and may make some of the other tiles you’re looking for less attractive.
