The maryada of Daan does not allow control over the Daan. It is done in good faith that the Daan will not be misused. So if my hair is being used by some people to earn a living, I have no issues. You cannot give Rs 10 as a Daan saying that you should only use for a specific purpose. If you do that, it is not daan, it is a form of debt or equity.

I shaved my head at Tirupati as a offering to Balaji even though I knew before hand what they do with the donated hair. What's the problem?! 1) The temple doesn't force anyone to visit. 2) Even if you do visit, they don't force you to offer your hair! 3) What they do with the donated hair is their business (Which most of us know, they sell it to huge hair companies to make wigs!) 4) In Indian culture we often offer food items as well in temples like milk, honey, fruits.. So why should hair be treated any differently? As far as I know the hair at Tirupati are sold to companies and it's a multi million dollars market. Since most of the hair donated are virgin hair (Uncoloured hair). Knowing this I still shaved my hair off at Balaji temple because my offering was made to Balaji, once offered I have no authority over what's been done with my hair, nor should it be any of my concern!

I am from AP and I go to Tirumala almost every year. That is a powerful place where Vishnu himself resides for real. But, I have some issues with this video. 1. Venkateshwara's idol does not have any real hair. But has very intricate carvings of beautiful hair- this is confirmed by the main priest in an interview. 2. All the milk, flowers and other things that are offered to Venkateshwara are given by the devotees and not from some unknown village. And everything is properly documented. This is also confirmed by him. No such village exists. 3. There is no sound coming from the idol of Venkateshwara. And the sweating is also not real. This priest, Ramana Deekshitulu, has been doing nitya seva to the main idol for atleast 2 decades. So there is no reason for him to lie.
