Nope. No where in Valmiki Ramayan or any other scripture it is mentioned that Ravan was devout Shiv Bhakt. Only instance that mentions Shiv- Ravan contact is Uttara Kanda where he arrogantly encountered Lord Shiva and tried to move his mountain and when his hands got pressed, he screamed in pain and sung songs glorifying Bhagwan Shankar. After thousand years, Bhakt vatsal bhagwan Shankar freed him. Then he becamse Shiva bhakt out of desperation to free himself. Nothing else is mentioned anywhere.

Dashanan was named ravan mahadev , the story goes as , Ravan wanted to be a shiv bhakt , he with his 10 heads then did ghor tapasya to impress shiv but the 10 heads depicted his ego or ahankar so he decide to cut his heads one by one and present it to lord shiv . People talking good deeds of Ravan don't realize the grave mistakes he had done throughout his life and take example of him as a pride and intelligence on baseless story lines, esp from Uttar kand. If he was so intelligent and so called "Shiv bhakt", he would be in senses of not doing any Sins. This is perfect example for us on how people show they are devotees of God, but do crimes on daily basis. Please point out the story where Ravan's sin is so high that even "Shiv" cannot forgive him for his sins on kidnapping Sita in a form of "Sadhu", where a Saadhu is highest symbol of purity.

Very informative video. But the question you asked at end about controlling his senses would save him, I would say NO. His arrogance and pride would somehow meet his doomsday. Also he had done this "Mahapaap" by abducting Sita in formation of a "Saadhu" which puts a black spot on purity of Saadhu. That grave mistake is worth of the highest punishment, which is Death!. The story of Shiv not forgiving Ravan is very well said by Manoj Bajpai movie Sirf ek Banda kafi hai. So I feel whatever good deeds you do through life, but "Paap" or Sin of highest level is always Death. There is no going back.

I do not understand the type of history written in your ancient texts, but I hope you will conduct some research regarding our greatest king and individual, Ravana. In ancient times, we called our country "Siw helaya," which means the four ‘Hela’ tribes named are Yakka Helaya, Deva Helaya, Naga Helaya, and Kumbanda Helaya. Each of these four states (Siw helaya) had different responsibilities in our country. Yakka Helaya was famous for administration and ruling the country. Therefore, when your king Ravana came, his mother's side was Yakka, and his father's side was Deva. So, we are a mix of these two, hence "Raksha." Therefore, 'Raksha' and 'Yakka' do not mean devil or demons; they carry different connotations. Ravana didn't have 10 demon heads; we interpret them as representing 10 different wisdoms from various areas (Shastra). We do not accept every situation written in Valmiki Ramayana because our stories tell something different. However, at the end of the day, our Dharma teaches us never to disrespect our idols. Thus, we respect your nation and your idols. During Dushera, you burn ten demon heads. I am not sure whether you actually burn demons or our great King Sakvithi Ravana in our nation.

what all thinks is Ravan's one mistake made him dead, but what if I say, he was so genius and expert at horoscope that all his fate , he already knew. Actually Ravan and Kumbhkarana were guards of sri Vishnu's Vaikunth, they got boon due to blocking 4 brahmin kids who were actually trying to get into vaikunth, in a desire to meet Vishnu ji. After this they asked for a way from Vishnu ji, to get out of that boon, followed by a option that either they have to live 7 lifes as Vishnus's devotees or 3 lives as Vishnu's opposer. So they though to take shortcut and chose the second option. And that Ramayan lifespan was the last of their 3 lifespan which was to be spent. So in all he already knew why he was there and how he going to be dead. There was no other way to make him free from his boon. So finally Vishnu ji himself had to take human avatar as Ram to set him free. He was no doubtedly a true genius and legend. All say he started thinking himself as of GOD but actually , practically he was no less than that. Only because he was born, so had to be dead. Any creature who natuarally is born cannot even stand a sand grain like chace infront of Shiva, in that sense he literally was equivalent of atleast Shiva's foot's finger - Salute to Ravana.

The part which describes that Ravan was shiv bhakt only because he sang the Shiv Tandav is totally wrong information. Ravan was a big divotee of Lord shiva. After this incident he started doing bhakti of lord shiva. Jai Mahakaal. Jai Lankesh 🕉️🙏🏼

*@riddhish02199* Stop hailing Lankesh, a Rakshasa. You are giving wrong information. Nowhere in Valmiki Ramayan or any other scripture is it mentioned that Ravana was a devout Shiv Bhakt. The only instance that mentions Shiv-Ravana contact is in Uttara Kanda, where he arrogantly encountered Lord Shiva, tried to move his mountain, and when his hands got pressed, he screamed in pain and sang songs glorifying Bhagwan Shankar. After a while, the Bhaktvatsal Lord Shiva freed him. Then he became a Shiva bhakt out of desperation to free himself. Nothing else is mentioned anywhere.
