ONLY 17 hours eh?? nowhere near the record we set in an E3d, of course it was operational in those days,,,,,,,,,,,:)
@tazzer93 жыл бұрын
e-3 has an advantage of 4 engines. Just remember that aircraft that are capable of being air-air refuelled are only limited by supplies for the crew, safe flying times if there isn't mutiple flight crews, and engine oil. Just remember that to get to 17 flight hours on a domestic 737 might take several days to achieve.
@flipwhale54942 жыл бұрын
@@tazzer9 I wouldn’t say that those are the only limiting factors, which maybe with innovation can be changed while having the same attributes.

If it ain’t broke and still functions as a basic mouse, no need to replace it. All it needs to do is point and click. No need for extra buttons or any jazzy DPI related things.

LOL fatigue. That plane basically flies itself. What are you getting tired from? Turning the speed selector knob for your auto throttle? Try flying a 707 with next to no automation and a crappy autopilot for that long smh
@maxnaz474 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they just fly around on auto pilot for 17hrs straight in an active war zone while all the other crew practice their solitaire... 2/10 troll...

MAXNAZ 47 No, I’m not a troll. I’m a Flight Engineer (if you even know what that is) on a military Boeing 707 and I can tell you for a fact that the Wedgetail is extremely easy to fly. You don’t need to be nearly as knowledgeable or hands on as you do on a classic 707 aircraft.
@adamhampshire91494 жыл бұрын
@@sniperdolphin1397 I agree with you. An analog beast like the 707 would be very taxing to fly. You stated the Wedgetail is easy to fly. Have you ever flown in one at all?. Are you rated to fly a 737NG at all? You stated you're a flight engineer and not a pilot and yes I do know what flight engineer is. How, as a flight engineer, are you able to quantify what you do vs what a pilot does? I'm guessing, if you are to launch on an known extended mission, you would have a second flight crew due to aviation regulation and policy? They launched with just the one crew. Yes, the work load is significantly reduced due the tech gap between a 707 vs a modern 737, but that does not reduce the humanistic factor involved. Ever. Period. Please, don't get me wrong. I am not attempting to upset nor nullify you comment at all, I just think it would be short sighted to comment on something that you were not involved in or with.
@sniperdolphin13974 жыл бұрын
Adam Hampshire I’m not quantifying what I do vs. a pilot. I’m quantifying the amount of knowledge and work required to operate a modern 737 vs. a vintage 707. I have discussed procedures with a 737 captain for Southwest Airlines and done a lot of my own research on this airframe (because I’m an airplane geek). There is no comparison. The 707 is hands down a more complicated jet to fly in that it has next to no automation to handhold you through the entire flight. No message on the EICAS pops up when there’s a hydraulic leak. The radio altimeter doesn’t give automated call outs. The FMS doesn’t automatically (and instantaneously) calculate your takeoff and landing data for you as well as one engine inoperative data. Fuel management takes skill, precision and patience. There’s no auto throttle so the pilots have to constantly monitor four throttles at once. I have many,...many more examples of how a 707 is much more tedious and taxing to fly. This is just touching the surface. I know what I’m talking about and I can say with certainty that what 737 crews (with no legacy aircraft experience) think is tiring, isn’t tiring. It’s like I’m washing laundry by hand and these guys are throwing their clothes in a high efficiency washer and saying they’re tired.

@@sniperdolphin1397 awesome. You have so many valid points and I agree with you. Are you with commercial or military as a flight engineer?
