Both were exceptional artists. I am fortunate that I also belong their Gharana. May God bless their souls. Bhimpalasi Raga has magical qualities to be unfolded by great ones like Baba and Nikhil da.

In the beautiful drupad-style alaap, Nikhilji has tuned down to surbahar pitch producing resonant, penetrating meend. Khansahib uses the asymmetrical arohi-avarohi of rag Bhimpalashri for dramatic effect while maintaining the peaceful rasa of the rag, and all of the musicians trade phrases seamlessly, as facets of the same gem, demonstrating their shared training as students of Baba Allauddin.
