I always personified bilaskhani todi as a lady in plain attaire singing with tanpura. Listening to you feels like the lady is you😌

It's the raag of bereavement, isn't it? Has that air of deep sadness about it.

@@adhominemsis-t.australisensis Yes! Even the composer of this raag miyan bilaskhan sang it when his father miyan Tansen was taking his last breath. But this is the one way of seeing it, raag has may colours of it , I saw the colour which I liked the most.

@@YashwinDewangan yes, I've also heard that it was composed by Bilas Khan on the occasion of Tansen's death. I find Komal Re Asavari similarly melancholic.

@moumitamitramusic what's the difference between Bairagi Todi and Bhupal Todi? One skips komal Ga and contains tivra Ma, the other skips Tivra Ma and contains komal Ga?

@@moumitamitramusic thanks. Not sure what was the logic of naming it Bairagi Todi when it has no Ma and contains Ga. Bhupal Todi name is logical as it's the same swaras as Bhupali but of Todi thaat.

I find it interesting that Bhairavi thaat is known as Hanumatodi in Carnatic music and Asavari thaat is known as Natabhairavi. Maybe the older versions of those two respective ragas, Todi and Bhairavi were from those two thaats.
