I am floored by how amazing this song is!!! They both sing this SO incredibly well that I just can't get enough of it. Her voice is simply entrancing. When I first heard this song in 2014 I was 18. I had “dedicated” this song to someone who I back then valued more than myself but in return I was only an option. I so desperately wanted this song to be our song, I was fooling myself by creating false scenarios, I had created a false love. I haven’t heard this song ever since but today the last day in 2023 I randomly came across it on tiktok and it hit me that never in my wildest imagination did I think I would experience the lyrics 8 years later 2022 with the right person, with the true love. But now I understand that with the wrong person we make up scenarios in our head to fit with the lyrics but with the right person we first experience these lovely scenarios naturally & effortlessly in real life and then realise that the meaning of the lyrics fits perfectly in. Because now 10 years later & older (& hopefully wiser) I’ve realised that love can’t be forced. But most importantly love can’t be one-sided. And the irony is that the the person I was desperately forcing to love me is the one who told me that love can’t be one-sided. And the beautiful thing is that the person who loved me effortlessly and unconditionally is the same person who showed me that love must be two-sided.
