On the 17th of June 2023, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia organized a poignant program to commemorate the illustrious literary figure, Rabindranath Tagore. The event was graced by esteemed guests, with Prof. Biswajit Ray, Department of Bengali, Visva Bharati, Shantiniketan, serving as the Guest-in-Chief, and the eminent elocutionist, Bratati Bandyopadhyay, attending as a Special Guest.
The program commenced with the enchanting sounds of Vedic chanting, creating a serene atmosphere that set the tone for the rest of the event. This was followed by a captivating inaugural song performed by the students of Vidyapith, which added an element of cultural richness to the proceedings.
Swami Shivapradananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia, took the stage to deliver the welcome address. In his speech, he eloquently emphasized the profound significance of celebrating the life and contributions of Rabindranath Tagore, underscoring the enduring relevance of his teachings and ideals in the present day.
The program continued with a mesmerizing recital on the flute by Sriman Anindya Karmakar, a student from Class VIII. His soulful performance left the audience enthralled, showcasing the depth of talent nurtured within the institution.The program took a heartfelt turn as five students, namely Sushmit Halder (Class V), Jishanu Ghosh (Class VII), Sk. Mustaq Ali (Class IX), Hardik Harsh (Class VIII), and Samyabrata Bandyopadhyay (Class VIII), stepped forward to recite their self-composed articles. Through their poems and short stories, they paid homage to the legendary poet, showcasing their creativity and reverence for Tagore's literary legacy.
The guest-in-chief, Prof. Biswajit Ray, delivered a captivating speech that shed light on the timeless wisdom of a 'simple living, high thinking' lifestyle, as envisioned by Rabindranath Tagore. His words resonated deeply with the audience, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts and minds.
To conclude the first phase of the program, Dr. Debashis Chatterjee, an Assistant Teacher from the Department of English, expressed gratitude and extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all the participants, organizers, and attendees for their contributions in making the event a resounding success.
The second phase of the program unfolded with a mesmerizing recitation by the renowned artist, Bratati Bandyopadhyay, held at Vidyapith auditorium. Bratati Bandyopadhyay enthralled the entire audience, consisting of students, teachers, monks, and brahmacharins, with her captivating recitation program held at the Vidyapith auditorium. Every poem and verse she brought to life resonated deeply with the audience, evoking a range of emotions, from joy and laughter to introspection and introspective contemplation. Her remarkable ability to engage the audience on an intellectual and emotional level made her performance an unforgettable experience for all present.
Throughout the program, the masterful compering of Vivekananda Kaity and Abhik Makhal, Assistant Teachers from the Department of Bengali, added a touch of elegance and ensured the smooth flow of the event. Their engaging and seamless coordination added to the overall charm of the program.
