Rubab means ru and bab. Ru=soul . Bab=doorway. Rubab was invented long before guru nanak. Man your facts are hurting me. Its around 3000 year old instrument. The one guru nanak s friend played is sarod. Lets get our facts right. But your videos are very good for learning the rabab.

Nice videos bro, but I would like to add some information :). 1st: Rabab was originated from Afghanistan 3500+ years ago, some years ago an sculpture was derived in Afghanistan that archeologists said it's 3500+ years old and it is holding Rabab in its hands. 2nd: The Instrument that our Sikh brothers uses is called Sarood, which is a modified version of Rabab, Rabab is originally made in Afghanistan and is National instrument of Afghanistan. 3rd: Rabab has different names based on different pronouciation in different demographics, but it's Original name is Roobaab, Roo means soul and Baab means Door, so it's basically a doorway to the soul.

No sarod and sikh rabab are different in many aspects e.g. metal and wooden finger board, type of strings used..also sound is different in context of pitch n resonance
