Rabbiteyes blueberry are so underrated right now. They are amazing tough plants. I have a Briteblue it was my first blueberry and it’s flowering like crazy in no chill conditions and it even survived summer with 40°C sun here in Rio de Janeiro. My Biloxi suffered with spots during the rainy season and now it’s a bit slow, but that Briteblue is triving in any condition, nothing bothers it. I’m a new rabbiteye fan!

I planted a brightwell that I bought at the local grocery store this year, and I found out I needed another blueberry bush for it to make berries so I had to plant a premier blueberry plant what can you tell me about this

Beautiful blueberries, Eric! I so love that you have Dad’s plant and it is thriving in your care. Also enjoyed hearing about the way you rely on the plants’ own intuition with regard to allowing them to set fruit the first year. I’d never thought of plants having intelligence like that. No wonder your plants are so happy! 🥰

Plants are very intelligent and resourceful. There is some evidence that plants react to stimuli, feel pain, communicate with each other through the air with chemical compounds and help each other through root systems and mycorrhiza.

Eric, do you prune your blueberry plants?
@ericthegreen45715 жыл бұрын
No, I don't ever prune them. I just let them grow how they want to.

What about Yadkin, Ozark Blue, and Columbus All rabbit-eye
@ericthegreen45714 жыл бұрын
I have all three of those new this year. OzarkBlue is classified as a southern highbush and it is blooming right now. Yadkin has a couple of berries on it too. Columbus is too small to bloom this year but if it grows well this season hoping for blueberries next year.

@@ericthegreen4571 you're welcome! If you want acidify your soil and fertilize your blueberries, use cottonseed meal.

@@Shavenerd53119 Cool, thanks, I haven't fertilized these blueberries before but cottonseed meal looks like a great one for blueberries.

With a lack of root hairs, microrhizal activity is going to be extremely low in blueberry cultures.

Unless there is native species of ericoid myco fungi, as I don't believe there is a commercial product for these

Try pink lemonade blueberries
@ericthegreen45715 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the recommendation. I actually just found and bought a large Pink Lemonade Blueberry plant last week! I have to wait until next season for fruit though. I've read great things about them. Do you have Pink Lemonade Blueberry plants?
@Shavenerd531195 жыл бұрын
@@ericthegreen4571 yes I bought them for the first time this year

Eric The Green pink lemonade is an ornamental plant, won’t get very big... tifblue, climax, premier are all old varieties that we have had on our commercial farm.. tifblue generally only yields every three years, if you hedge them, it’s 3 years before they yield again to any worth, premier, climax get hit by early frost... I suggest brightwell, alapaha, Vernon, powder blue and a few others.. brightwell has been around for 50 years.. okloacknee has been around a few years, suppose to take the place of tifblue, ripens very late but is a good yielder
@leebraddock97894 жыл бұрын
Eric The Green you pronounce it A lap pa ha
@leebraddock97894 жыл бұрын
Eric The Green dr Krewer is good, not a good yielder, average at best, loves to be pruned and hedged, the titan is a monster, yields like its mother brightwell, but are so large (average 3grams per berry) they crack with very little rain.., you can imagine our battles in the commercial setting

ah-LAP-a-ha, it's Muskogee, you pronounced it Hawaiian.
