It still is. Take away the Greek elements form those regions, and its inhabitants will not even be able to utter the word "telephone"....

What would be beneficial is if those two absolute amazing nations actually cooperated in pretty much every sector. Both are the most ancient among the region we live in. Also there are more to share than to divide. Greeks have shown that they respect the state of Israel with many examples showing that. Shalom!

My friend you are making a mountain out of a mole. The actions of one silly Greek emperor do not express the traditions of the ancient Greeks. In the heat of war people do silly things. In reality during peace the ancient Greeks never ever forced their religion onto other peoples. Either with violence or without violence.. In ancient Athens they even provided an altar dedicated to the unknown Gods for the use of foreigners visiting Athens. However the two children of Judaism, namely Islam and Christianity forced their religions onto other peoples with horrible violence, torture and mass murder. Remember what was considered a sin for ancient Jewish people, namely the lifestyle of the ancient Greeks, singing and dancing, the theatre, sports activities and much much more modern Jews have adopted with pride. There is no need in todays world to promote hatred.

Bibi Netanyahu said, "I ask those countries who wish us a "Happy Hanukkah," how could they vote for a UN Resolution that says the place we no stand and celebrate Hanukkah is occupied territory?" Let us remind our christian friends that Hanukka was a time when the greeks tried to eliminate Judaism from the world. But, think about it; isn't that the goal of christianity? Christian doctrine teaches that without accepting jesus, everyone goes to hell. So out of "love" they try to evangelize Judaism out of existence. Either way, thru the hate of the greeks or the "love" of the christians, the goal is the same: eliminate Judaism. If you say you "stand with Israel", maybe you should stop trying to evangelize Judaism out of existence. Hey, it didn't work out all that well for the greeks or haman or hitler or a lot of others.

Robert Morley, I'm Greek and I cannot imagine us Greeks doing such a thing. We invented democracy and free thinking so I cannot picture us Greeks trying to destroy other cultures.

Catherine H. Noo... Channukah is about when the Greeks tried to force the Jews to assimilate. PASSOVER(PESACH) is about the Exodus from Egypt.

GET A LIFE YOU FASCIST JEW .As a Greek you have to respect me(from the one hand side) for philosophy, ethics, democracy and history and I also have to respect you ( from the other hand side) for your accomplishments is information technology and your ability to develop some things that are innovative for the days that we live now.I mean they are not synchronized with the nowadays technology(.Your ability in developing integrated weapons and crafting many frigates and corvettes suited for protecting your country's dependence),and I also have to respect you for your religion status that describes your culture and folks.( AS JERUSALEM IS A HUB FOR THE THREE MONOTHEISTIC RELIGIONS).You see that Finding the mutual ideas and thoughts that connect Greeks and Jews is the most vital reference in order to have our bonds connected and not separated .STOP seeing your country as the only entity that rules the world normally and legally .OUR Nations(Greek and Jewish) have a lot in common .The Human rights are based on international agreements and were introduced to the whole world, making this distribution the perfect justice for the humanity. These all are fundamental values that cannot be violated by none, and none in this world is an entity that has the authority to rule-conquer and lead this miraculous world.
