Something about the old school look. I love the new 2022 Chief’s but think I prefer the Vintage. Just me 😆

@@RabidHedgehog ok, I got to ride the vintage dark horse last week. Omg!!! It was so smooth. I'm 5'6 and the bike sits low. It was perfect for me. Seeing the vintage in person puts the pictures to shame...lol. Thanks to your review and actually experiencing the ride for myself, I was sold... lol. Picking up my ride on Saturday.

I have the Chief Vintage with the quick release windshield. I honestly prefer the ride without the shield. If anybody is on the fence because of the lack of shield on the Dark Horse, don’t sweat it-you’re not missing much.

@@sanj5026 it’s my second bike. I had a Honda Shadow 750 before. I’ve grown to appreciate the windshield more since my first comment. It’s good in the cold winter. But I still don’t use it in the hot summer. The Chief Vintage is a very fun bike. Probably not the best choice for a daily commuter, because the white wall tires and soft bags would be a nuisance to maintain in bad weather. But for sunny weekend joy rides, it’s really great.

A GREAT REVIEW! I appreciate it. I'm 6'4" with a 33 inch inseam and I want one of these. I have an Electraglide now....and I love it...but it was built for slightly smaller people! I like those long, lanky bikes. I used to run a "Gilroy" years Indian store....and I loved riding the big ass 68 inch wheelbase cruisers! Looks like I NEED one of these! LOL!

I have leather bags on my bike now. I think the blacked out hard bags would do it more justice, beautiful bike though I'll be trying to pick up a springfield DH soon as I pays some bills off.

Same as my 2019 chief chief darkhorse with bags , air shock and tire pressure monitor. I replaced many of the indian logo covers, shift peg, brake pad and floor boards with Kurykayn items. Hogwortz led headlight a must. Grip Puppies for grip vibration. Also crash bars.New Mustang seat ordered. Bike is now a show stopper!

Very nice and informative video again Rabid Hedgehog! it is just too nice riding without a fairing, that's why I am still in love with my Springfield I bought 2016! And I agree, the agility is a bit better compared to fairing models. BUT!...Occasionally a fairing is just nice and practical. The stock windshields are producing a lot of more buffeting than a full fairing. That is the reason why I will buy from the US an aftermarket quick release Batwing fairing. Then I have the best of both worlds and let the weather and my mood decide how I want to ride! :-)

Loved the review, Can someone please explain what's the difference between the Springfield dark horse, chief dark horse and vintage dark horse are they different motorcycles or different trims of the same motorcycle. Thanks in advance
@RabidHedgehog4 жыл бұрын
The Springfield is going to be the hard bag version that can be locked up with a 116 engine, little bit longer than the Chieftain but a smidge shorter than the Vintage bike with higher mini apes and such. The Vintage is the longer version and lightest as well with only the 111 engine available right now with leather bags that do not lock. The Chief Dark Hose has left production and it and the Vintage are pretty much the same except bags between those two.

I don’t get the need for “power modes” on a big V- twin cruiser. Did you find them useful at all?
@RabidHedgehog4 жыл бұрын
My daily rider is the Chieftain and it has the three modes of rain, tour, and sport as well. I do actually find them more useful in adverse weather for sure since it takes the bite out of the throttle, however, 98% of the time or more I am in Sport mode because I like that quick action throttle response vs the other two lazy modes.
@gurbie4 жыл бұрын
Rabid Hedgehog Thanks! I ride an FZ-09. I find that the three rider modes on that thing are very useful.

@RabidHedgehog2 жыл бұрын
They will be near identical since those years share the same platform over all. The seats are kind of the biggest difference with the Vintage having more long legs built in.

I'm so mad they slapped stock bags on it and then raised the price AGAIN. Remember when it had chrome trim, and powertrain, and cost only 17500? And then they blacked the whole thing out and charged 1000$ more for it, and now they put boomer ass frill bags on it and slapped another 1000$ on it. Indian stop. @@JTroskaTV one of the strong points of Indian motorcycles was the striking color selection. I liked the chief in blue and white, I liked the Scout in Willow Green and cream. Sadly, the color choices have reduced over the past years. Can you even get an Indian in the Indian red?

I don't like the look of the front fender at all. I also think the fringe is the dumbest thing ever put on a motorcycle. I can't believe a manufacturer actually did this. Also don't care for the way the handlebars lay down so low and have to come back so far for the rider. I don't think that riding modes are required on this type of bike either. Just give me sport mode and leave it at that. Now what do I like? I do like the solo seat. I think nothing looks better than a solo. I like that is doesn't have a heel shifter. I like that it doesn't have a windshield. I like that is has cast wheels. I like that it has cruise control. I like the lack of chrome. I like that it has dual discs on the front. I did go to Indians website and they have one with ape-hanger style bars which look so much better. If you did that and changed the front fender and cut off the fringe this bike would be a huge improvement.
