Rabindranath Tagore | How a School Drop-Out Won the Nobel Prize | Dhruv Rathee

The man who wrote the national anthems of India and Bangladesh was a school dropout, but how did he go on to win a Nobel Prize? This is Rabindranath Tagore's short biography in Hindi. His father Debendranath Tagore's spiritual journey to Shantiniketan, Golden Temple Amritsar and Dalhousie hill station in Himalayas, where he learnt the Ramayan, Upanishads, astronomy, Kalidas poems. The translation of his poems Gitanjali made him popular and he won Nobel Prize. In this video, I throw a light on his life.

Being a Bengali, I am glad that Bengali culture and and our idols are being given importance and people are fascinated by them, all the bengali idols always had a free mindset, Bengal was heaven on Earth when these people walked on it's soil, I am not disrespecting any other Indian state or Culture, each and every culture is a gem and has therefore made India a Gem.. But the mindset these great people had should also come up now.. We Bengalis see Rabindranath Thakur, Netaji, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramkrishna, Maa Sarada, as our Gods.. He was not at all a School drop out, he himself dropped out from school and didn't attain the school premises again as he was against the bookish knowledge and wanted to learn from everything even from outside the book. So his father appointed teachers for him in house who can teach everything not only from the book but even from outside the book as well.

He didn't compose the national anthem of Bangladesh. Because when he wrote "ও আমার সোনার বাংলা আমি তোমায় ভালোবাসি" Bangladesh as a country was not formed. When Bangladesh was formed in 1972 after Pakistani army surrendered to Indian army on December 16th, 1971 . As a new born country, Bangladesh needed a national anthem. Hence the song was adopted as national anthem of Bangladesh.
