The Russian Republic or the Russian Democratic Federative Republic (Russian doref. Russian Republic) (Russian doref. Russian Democratic Federative Republic) is the name of the state on the territory of the former Russian Empire from September 1 (14), 1917 to January 6 (19), 1918.
The Russian Republic was proclaimed a Directory, which was recorded in the decree of the Provisional Government of September 1 (14), 1917[3]. Further, it was assumed that a decision on the state structure would be made by the Constituent Assembly, for which it was elected [~ 2]. Then the name “Russian Democratic Federative Republic” arose, being chosen by the All-Russian Constituent Assembly on January 6 (19), 1918. The Resolution of the Assembly was subsequently canceled by the Council of People's Commissars, but was recognized by the Samara KOMUCH.
After the overthrow of the Provisional Government of Russia, the name "Russian Republic" was first used as the official name by the Soviet authorities, until they introduced a new name for the republic - the RSFSR
The White movement, which opposed the Bolsheviks in the Civil War, in turn declared the principle of "non-decision" and, starting from the Ufa State Conference, officially used the name Russian State
