People often forget just how good other forwards in the messi-ronaldo era were also. Suarez, Neymar, Benzema, Aguero, Hazard, Lewa, etc. They were all legends of the sport in their own right. The current generation of forwards just doesn't have the ability to score as many goals as the forwards of the past generation did. Used to be a time where a 20 goal season was considered mid for most forwards, now it's considered amazing. Lewa at 36 is putting up more goal contributions than strikers 10 years younger than him. That whole generation was just built different man. It's not just the forwards, it's literally everyone. That era was Peak Football.

@@Endrick-real Can people cut the Pele crap... Pele was great for his time but his career is filled with bullshit... 1. Brazil won the 1966 WC without him... meaning they were good enough to win it all even without Pele, so Pele rode a super talented squad into very very easy success because back then the hugely talented teams in the world were about 3-4 at most if not less. It's pretty much the same as Mbappe winning the WC but with even less big talented teams to beat. 2. His "1000 goals" came against AMATEURS... he waws playing in games against players that in today's football would be 2-3 leagues below the top league of Brazil and was scoring 8 goals per game... CONTEXT PEOPLE... CONTEXT!!! 3. Pele massively hyped himself up and really stepped on the corpse of Garrincha at the time to rise to fame over his teammate... so much so that when Garrincha was homeless and Brazilian greats did a fundraising game to help him Pele didn't show up... that alone makes him ineligible for any GOAT conversation (cause the GOAT can't be a selfish prick that only cared about his own fame) but let's move on... 4. When Pele was around 28-30 the professional Brazilian League was formed... and guess what? The "great scorer" only scored 0.5 goals per game in that league against the best Brazilian players of that time... to put that in perspective, that's the same as prime Olivier Giroud or about 0.4 less goals per game than prime Ruud Van Nistelrooy... or more than 0.6 goals per game less than prime Messi or Ronaldo. Pele being in the GOAT conversation is a joke... I know that his career was at a time when professional football was very young but he wasn't nearly as good as "his legend" suggests... he was a great player of his era... and he is an All Time Great... but GOAT? HELL NO!!!

As a Barcelona fan, Lamine Yamal isn’t just a ridiculous footballer, even though he is, he is a symbol of what Barcelona is. We have been through a lot as a club and a fanbase but Lamine Yamal and the other La Masia ballers aren’t just bringing back the good results but they’re reinvigorating the interest in our club that we lost for a little while. He and the La Masia players have an arrogance and naivety that only youngsters boast, a will to be the best and bravery to take on anybody, anywhere anytime. Hopefully they all stay healthy and I can get my club fully back.

You guys want to know the craziest part of Lamine's career until now?.His main position is not RW,Xavi put him there because his body was still devoleping and he didnt want to put lamine in the deep end in his debut..So get this he became one of the best RW in the world,while he had no experience playing there.In La Masia he was more of a central space player most notably False 9 was his role.he is a master of zone 14 of the pitch and i pray that he stays healthy,so that we can watch him fully unleash himself.
@ehlander295427 күн бұрын
I wasnt aware of that detail, players that can adapt to different roles and positions at such young age is very rare, he has that silky touch to play in between midfield and defense line opposition so see him playing more central wouldn't surprise me , and I agree 100% with xavi here as yamal is skinny and still developing is body so to start him on the wing was the best option and now that he's had a bump in height and body muscle it's going to be legit scary see him evolve to full potential. You know, what's different with Yamal is how genuinely concerned his peers and coaches, both in the national and Barca team, are in protecting him so that he isn't derailed from the path of success. And i think this is so important for Lamine Yamal to remain grounded and fulfilling his potential. His age is touted a lot, but really i think many do not fully grasp how young he is in his career as a footballer. There is a long career ahead of him so to speak. Players usually only start to break between 19 - 21 and reach their prime at 23, but he's way younger than that by at least 7 years. There are thousands of known wonderkids who have fallen off the cliff, now plying their trade in the third division of some unknown league at the age of 23. If nobody protects him, his career will degrade perhaps at an age even younger than those wonderkids. Ansu Fati, whose career trajectory is almost like Lamine Yamal, is pretty much on his way there already. It is so important to help these players develop physically and mentally.

There is nothing wrong with saying he is better than Messi at that age because it is true. The context is not so different as at the time Laporta also had just become President and Barca was struggling. "Laporta's first season (2003-04) as president would prove to be a watershed for the club, but not without initial instability. The club situation was one of bitter unhappiness and disappointment amongst both fans and players after the club failed to meet their own standards to match Real Madrid's success in the early 2000s, having not won trophies since 1999." Messi for various reason like his health was not good enough to be a regular on the first team even in a rebuilding stage and even when he finally broke through, he was very much injury prone. This kid is comparable to the best teenagers to ever play at the top level, i.e Pele, Maradona, Best, Cryuff, Ronaldo Nazario, Michael Owen etc.

2008 - 2012 it was a thought experiment „what if this spain Team also had Messi“. Maybe its not a thought experiment any more…

There were too many good players around Messi than there are around Yamal. Barça's recent challenges were however a blessing in disguise.

My opinion is prolly not vox populi, but no number of won Champion Leagues would compare to the joy and excitement of watching the Barca of Rijkaard, of Guardiola, of Luis Enrique, and of Hansi Flick now (props to Xavi obviously). Being Culé is another thing...

All he needs now to complete his career is to move to Tottenham

The thing with this kid is that he's not a Messi, Ronaldo, Robben type winger. He's a more of a Mesut Özil type player who happens to be a winger. Those who have watched Mesut Özil play will know exactly what I mean. I can see this kid getting 20+ assists per season.

I hope they get success at barca, considering every player they produce is kind of a Mezzala, inverted wing or inwerted wing back. I hope they keep it up and work defensively as well. They deserve some trophies. - From an arsenal fan that loved tiki taka but realise structure gets results. beautiful football is not always rewarded, but maybe this side can bring it back.

Closets thing to seeing teenage messi. The only thing that can slow him down is an injury. He is a mix of Messi & neymar. Even when he’s not scoring, he’s making out of this world passes and assists. This is a player every club would want.

Lamine really listened to what Cruyff said about Messi:”This kid has a long way to go, yes he is talentaed but he has much to learn and when he will learn when to pass and when to dribble he will not have only one ballon d’oro”

I’m a Madrid fan and I gotta say the boy is talented. I was hurt when some of our Bernabeu fans started throwing racist comments at him (17 y/o) during the last el clasico. I hope this won’t get in the way of his development in the future because it might get to him as he’s human too
