What do you mean by fizzes? Like a fizzing sound, or like peroxide fizz with bubbles?

Thanks for sharing your expertise. I have some rocks I would like to try in my aquarium and now I know how to make sure they are safe for my fish. Thank you again

Great video with informative tips! Your tank looks great with the new hardscape. I love how nicely it's coming along. As for preparing rocks, I do the same vinegar test and boiling for 10 minutes. It is going to be so epic when you finish setting this tank up, and the plants start filling in. Thanks for posting!

Late to the game, but a simple, helpful video. Hard scape looks great with the accent foliage.

What does fizzing mean? If I have a limestone rock from my yard (Miami, Florida) and it fizzed a little does that mean it’s no good? I’m confused on the rules 😅

I use the white vinegar test for rocks just because it's convenient as I have it to hand. Thanks man 👍😊🍻

Can boiling the rocks damage them?

Is sandstone safe for aqauriums? I found gorgeous ones but I found mixed opinions on them. Also can't rocks explode if you boil them?

Is there a substitute I can use for white vinegar?

I used apple vinegar. As far as I can tell, they test exactly the same way.

Rocks and such are as they are when found in the wilderness, BUT, does that mean they're safe for intentional use in terrariums with creatures living in it? Do you think the same test should be performed for those as you would for aquarium usage?

Hey how's the 125g going? I was setting up a 125g at the same time you were posting these, also with AI Primes. Was looking forward to seeing how yours progressed. Keep on postin' bud!

Nice one bro, I did not know there were rocks that could harm the fish.

Thank man. Yeah, it can cause your pH levels to rise. If your water is already hard the fish might be fine, but it can cause issues if you have soft water and low pH.

ugh I have soft water and high ph. Have no idea what our water supply people are up to, my fish are alive and I have all sorts of things in their tanks

Did you ever find out how to prepare them
@dirtfed14573 жыл бұрын
@@waitwhat3630 I boiled them, scrubbed them and repeated that process x3. They were granite that looked like dragon stone so there was dirt in all those little holes... They’ve been in my tank for a week and so far the water is clean and my perimeters are good.
@waitwhat36303 жыл бұрын
@@dirtfed1457 thank you for replying back. Awesome I bought a back of rocks from a pet store and I boiled them in instant ocean 3 times and rinsed in between then dried them out on a towel I am going to silicone them into a large rubbermaid bowl to use as a pool for my hermit crabs.
