I remember the first time Ian helped me with the backhoe. He was so excited! I then got out of the seat and let him dig up a stump on his own. You would have thought that he was the king of the world! Great times...great memories! So now that you've done the Zip sheathing for the lower section of the house, do you think it's worth it as opposed to OSB and housewrap?
@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid6 ай бұрын
Yes, so awesome to see the kids excited about learning and mastering something new. Did the same thing with my oldest daughter when we were digging up pine stumps. She worked at digging for hours and the amazement on her face when she pulled out the stump was priceless 🤣 I don't know how the OSB will perform compared to regular house wrap, but it was convenient not to have to wrap the whole house!

A long sleeve preferably white tee is much better than working shirtless on those really hot sunny days imo. It keeps the sun off your skin and helps reflect the light that causes that baking sensation.

Thanks for the tip! Don't have any of those right now, but shirtless beats my normal dark colored T-shirsts for now 😅 I think it's time to invest in an industrial fan and mist machine lol

I couldn't tell from the video how deep you planted the tree, but those top roots should only be a couple of inches below dirt. The root flair should be at ground level. Speaking from experience because I have killed several by planting too deep. Better to shallow than too deep. Also stake and tie. Several good videos on KZbin how to plant trees. Good luck.

Peach tree will need plenty of water after being transplanted in this heat. Do you have a good water supply ? Sandy soil....South Carolina. or southern Ga ????
@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid6 ай бұрын
Hey there, thanks for joining us 😊 we are in Southeast Georgia, hence the heat and the sand 😀 we have a deep water Well, so between the summer rains and the Well, water won't be an issue. We plan on having the ducks and rabbits do a lot of "fertilizing" around the tree 😄

Question about the zip sheeting? Why wasn’t it installed horizontal? Adds more structural support doesn’t it. I work in new construction and sheeting (not zip) is never installed vertical.
@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid6 ай бұрын
It can be installed horizontal or vertical. The structural integrity just depends on how many nails you use. If you install blocking for horizontal panels along all the long edges, than it will use the same # of fasteners as a vertical board that goes from bottom to top plate. There are some good explanations on KZbin about this topic. Think about your typical 6" O.C. around the edges.
