Hi mate well done on your first race good to get places against some people who have probably raced for years and at least you no your on the right track and birds will get fitter and faster as races go on a man who I returned a hen to told he gives them some sort of egg food to build them back up after races she had done 550 miles back across the channel in UK and would normally make same back day but found her 2 days latter trying to get a drink out the canal she had flew 350 two weeks before keeping fingers crossed for more places on last race

How many lofts you all racing. Is it a combine or just local clubs racing. You did good 11 place 👍

We have i think 11 lofts in the club but only about half sent their birds to the 100, for some reason a lot of people dont like that race. We race a combine with south bend which is about the same size as our club. I dont have the combine results yet

Red Star Loft ...we fly CJC combine 147 loft Over 2000 birds some times 3000 is not and easy races they are located in north I’m 100 miles in south jersey my birds have to break off very fast for me to get any good times . I don’t fly the first 100 miles for young birds when I race them the problem is they go to far north for me the birds have to go over Philadelphia where they get jumped by peregrine falcons so I skip that race and starting with the 150 mile that is not too far north . Every place USA is different I wish I had a small combine to race and on the line with my loft but I’m not so lucky. Any way enjoy your birds . Good luck with the 200 .

You had a great race your work has paid off. My recommendation only pertains to young bird races . If your birds are breaking into two groups do not release all the birds together. What is taken place is that at the beginning of your release they fly as a team . But at some point the faster birds and the ones that want to get home fast break away but they have been slowed down by the lazier flyers, if this was old birds the would be rushing home to their mates or eggs . I learned this from my dad who during ww2 he became friends with some top flyers in Europe . After the war he had raced the bird s in ny from 1950 to 1959 7 years club and regional champion : Funny I have never told this to anyone until now

Für nächstes Jahr solltest Du den Einsprung ändern. Eine Voliere ist ja von Vorteil. Ich würde sie größer bauen (3x3 Meter und über die ganze Höhe den Taubenschlags) den Lauftunnel würde ich abschrauben. Durch den verlierst du unnötige Sekunden bis die Tauben über die Antenne laufen . Mit Google übersetzt: For next year you should change the entry point. An aviary is an advantage. I would build them bigger (3x3 meters and the dovecote over the entire height) I would unscrew the running tunnel. You lose unnecessary seconds until the pigeons run over the antenna

I was breathing heavy at first because i started recording right after i finished catching them. Breathing is just fine, never in the loft without a mask
