This is a lost summer for me. I have watched unlimited hydroplane racing since 1958. Just like Jake Lloyd in the Madison movie, I would jump on my bicycle when I heard the roar the Allison and Merlin engines, meaning boats were on the river,testing for the Governor's Cup. The race was just a part of Madison and its history. Kids in Seattle grew up with the same experience. Covid-19 has robbed the United States of everything this summer, including over 150,000 people. I will never forgive it for taking the hydroplanes away from this summer, which, at 65, I will never get back.
