RACE TRACTOR - WRENCHLIFE - little BASTARD - REBUILD - PART 1

With the thunder bastard all together and ready for its shakedown, we brought the little bastard back to the garage to get a complete rebuild ahead of its first show appearance this year at Dubshed 2016.
Only a few weeks to go until the show, so this will have to be done quickly, but we love a deadline...

I love this build! What kind of engine did you use on it? I'm thinking of going along the same route with a live axle rear end....just not sure what engine to use with it.

+J Pete Thanks, the engine is a yx150e pit bike engine, 15-18 flywheel horsepower according to the manufacturer, they are actually kind of hard to come by currently, but other electric start pit bike engines can be found in a couple of other sizes fairly easily, it works in this tractor because the total vehicle weight is under 100kg, (+80kg for the driver), if you planned to use a mower as a base i would suggest a bigger engine to cope with the extra weight

Love the builds mate but was wondering how you set up your front steering as want to build something like it but stuck on how to do the steering and what size is ur rear axle is it 30mm or 25mm cheers

Jazz Davis thanks! the steering on the little bastard is actually a bit more complicated than it really had to be, I designed it to eliminate the bump steer that I would get from the swiveling front axle, (before taking into account how little the front axle actually is allowed to articulate), if you check out this link there are better shots of the build process, www.atltf.com/t4800-little-b-david-brown-bike-engined-mini-tractor the axles I use are 30mm hollow, I think they are the best compromise for this kind of build, Jon

I know this video is old. But just curious how u did your steering? not so much the tie rods but how did u connected everything together .

hey mate love ur builds one question though where did u get the rear hubs for little basted cheers keep up the great vids

Thanks man, the rear hubs are called rally kart hubs and I get them from kart components in England, they are a 4stud, 4"pcd pattern. I modify them from a 10mm stud to a 12mm stud with a 1/2"shoulder to suit the Douglas wheels I run. Stay tuned to the channel, I have a new set here for the superbastard which will be getting the mod done soon!
