I'd use a kill switch over Carlock any day of the week. Get the RF Lockout. It's free at Dodge. Locks your car to YOUR two key fobs only. For those that don't know, your car comes with 4 key slots. 2 of them are assigned to your fobs, the other 2 are left "blank" in case you lose your fobs. Problem is, thieves can program a new key with those 2 open slots. It's quick and easy for them to do. Don't let them, get those two slots locked out. Now that your car is locked to your ONLY your fobs, keep them in a faraday pouch at all times (except while driving of course). Don't let your signal get hijacked like Racer said. Get that steel box that covers the neutral strap and mount it with security screws. Get a newer model club, not the old one that only requires one cut to remove. The newer ones require four cuts to take off. Top it off with a brake pedal lock. Have good insurance and if you're still paying it off, get gap insurance as well. It's only a vehicle and not worth your life.

My 2018 Scat Pack was stolen a few months ago in Houston from the Cypress park-and-ride garage. The thief broke the driver's side window and then apparently programmed a duplicate key. These key programmers are available on Amazon for less than $100. I did get it back - because I had tossed an Apple air tag into the trunk I was able to direct the cops to it. There was a high speed chase and they apparently eventually stopped it with a spike strip (I assume so as all four tires were ruined). One $500 deductible and $8000 covered by Liberty Mutual and my car is good as new. Dodge can turn off the key-programming feature and I had them do so, Northwest Dodge charged me $179 to do this; I thought they should have done it for free. I also started using The Club so hopefully they won't break the glass before finding out they can't program themselves a key. Good video RacerX and great advice. I just gotta say though that the Mopars really aren't the "preferred car for car thieves." In fact they aren't even in the 15 most stolen cars in America. From 2010-2022 the only American vehicles to make that list are full size trucks from Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge, and the Jeep Cheerokee/Grand Cheerokee made the list a couple times. Honda, Toyota and Nissan are most commonly stolen cars. So yeah definitely do everything you can to keep your Mopar safe, but just know that your Camry or Accord is more likely to get stolen.

Excellent video Bro. Thanks for doing it. One thing I do is I put the Club on my Mustang GT every night when I'm done for the day. I also pull a couple of choice fuses from under the hood, like for the fuses for Fuel Relay and Starter when I plan on leaving town for a few days. It also helps that my Mustang is a manual. My theory is that the Mopars are being targeted is because they are going away. If someone has a better theory, I would love to know what it is. I mean, the Camaro SS and Mustang GT are both also American Muscle and are just as fast and, in some cases, faster than the Scat Packs and they don't seem to be as targeted. I don't hear about Corvettes being excessively targeted either. If someone can explain why without being a condescending jerk about it, I would like to know.
@robertc4311 Жыл бұрын
The other muscle cars aren’t perceived to have the same cool. If it was about scarcity or extinction, then Camaros would be targeted. I suspect it’s likely because of influence from rap videos, Dodge commercials, You Tube, and social media. The joy riders aren’t necessarily “car guys” who have an inherent understanding what a GT500 or ZL1 are capable of. They get overlooked by joy riders. The only people that ever comment on any of my Camaros is car guys at a cruise. No one else. But, the Hellcat logo on the side fenders is an instant attention grabber. Pull up to an intersection and look at how many people all of a sudden are paying attention. My wife has actually had old guys at the grocery store give her the thumbs up. One guy came up to her and said you should get a license plate that says “Hell yeah.” It’s the in your face attitude of the Dodges that makes them desirable targets by the wrong people...

Hey Racer X I know the sound of the new banshee sound is not unique to that car. In 1986 there was a movie the wraith that car was a dodge M4S concept and it made that sound.

Seen a few videos now showing quite a few ways to protect them. After Market alarm systems along with other hacks like the starter switches, plates to block the neutral pull switch etc.

I personally wouldn’t trust GPS trackers. Idk how is it in USA but here in Central Europe thieves just have jammers that block the gps signal rendering such devices useless

Will this work in a trunk? You suggested that but it states to not install it under metal on the power cable adapter.

Sorry but that car lock gonna get annoying and your gonna end up turning it off The best thing you can do is get full coverage insurance then put your car in the garage and get a club or make a kill switch

I've always wonder about the weight distribution ratios on mustangs compared to similar vehicles. I've driven the newer mustang and although not a complete fan, I noticed alot of punch in the 5.O when it decides to kick in and kick out the rear a little if not in a straight line. But overall it's not a bad vehicle at all. Experience and really getting to know your vehicle and how it reacts when doing certain maneuvers is key. On my Mopar I went on a staggered set with 275/40x9.5 front and 295/40x10.5 in the rear. Get the grip, it goes a long way! 😄👍

has anyone considered Ravelco? Its pricey, and it appears to require a few hours to travel on my end....and...the website says theyll install it within the parkinglot of a f***king Bass Pro north of Dallas,TX lmao.... but the concept sounds perfect. 12pin plug thats randomized installed under your dashboard, all ignition wires steelwrapped and made to look identical. Its like returning the vehicle back to a physical key start, no plug, no start. Can the vehicle still be stolen? yeah, but they arent driving it and are required to look like they're actually stealing it now. That plus a neutral strap cover feels like it could be a solid combo.

On my 06 ram 2500, the N safety switch is defective ( recalled part installed) 6 sp manual.... Thiers a certain way I have to kick the clutch pedal to start my truck... Honestly, I dont see why anyone would want to steal thease tubs, 1/2 the time, thier not running correctly on good day... A remote kill switch on the + side of the battery ( so you dont lose the clock memories of your good times...) is a thought... It boggles my mind that the automatics have a bypass to put the transmission in Neutral to allow for towing... Even if they cant start a challenger, charger, they can roll one away for parts..

Maybe if we would stop playing nice all around everyone and get back to cutting hands off to convicted thieves we might teach them to think twice before stealing something? Just saying...

The Carlock alarm seems redundant if you already have a good car alarm. Why would anyone design a security device that plugs into the OBD2 port anyway? It is the very place where thieves plug in their tablet to get the data to clone a new key. People get so many different notifications on their apps throughout the day, it's very likely they will miss it.

Those of us who own or will own the TRX or Rebels, thieves are hooking the horn wire, disconnecting it, thereby eliminating the noise. There are “old school” techniques like RAVELCO. New technology like IGLA or COMPUSTAR. These can even be layered for added protection. In addition, relocating the horn wiring is another great idea. Now that Ram has closed the order books for the remainder of the 2023MY, I am sure this doesn’t bode well for Ram truck owners.😢
@frankherman2877 Жыл бұрын
I installed the IGLA system with the PIN code built into my dash. Great system. Probably the best for Mopars. Love my TRX and can’t afford to have it stolen

Hey @racerx why not recommend full alarm system with drone mobile instead of Carlock? My problem with carlock is no sirens or alarm to deter.
@DJGRoc Жыл бұрын
Sirens don't necessarily help. All depends on the area where the car is when it goes off. 😔
@miked1551 Жыл бұрын
@Monica from CarLock good car alarm also sends notification and does tracking and all the stuff CarLock does. But it's not as easily discarded as CarLock. Alarm is an important deterrent and must have part of any auto security system in my opinion.
@miked1551 Жыл бұрын
@@DJGRoc Siren always helps unless you're in the middle of nowhere and nobody else can hear it going off - even then I still get an alert with drone mobile. CarLock is good but far from the best and very far from comprehensive is all I'm saying.

What’s everyone thoughts on the SWAT KARR that they got you to buy at the dealership? I’m not so sure if I want to renew the subscription or not, after reading reviews.
@codyerickson3550 Жыл бұрын
I work at a CDJ dealership and when I got my Scat Pack from our lot, I had them keep SWAT installed. So I have to use the app to physically “unlock” the engine: Which means that I can’t afford to have my phone die or get destroyed, but I’d rather worry about that than my beautiful car being stolen and destroyed by some fuckass
@davidhammond10 Жыл бұрын
@@codyerickson3550 mine doesn’t even offer that. It’s just a gps and I guess it “supposed” to shut the engine down if it senses vibration. Idk.
