Townes Van Zandt dreamed this song in a drunken slumber. He woke up remembering every lyric and every instrument's part. He took the memory into a recording session that same day and asked his band if any of them had heard the song before. None of them had, so they recorded it. Several other artists have recorded it since, including Emmylou Harris who kills it so sweetly. True talent is a gift.

Jamey got into an accident a few years back. He slipped an fell on the ice and hit his head pretty hard after a recording session. According to him, he can play and sing all of his previously written music. However, his creative side was greatly damaged. This has also caused him to have bouts of depression ,anxiety, and paranoia. I trust he will find his way again.

I agree, as a huge Townes Van Zandt fan. Lovely singing. I’m nitpicking here, but I wish they had looked at each other when they sang, rather than appear as if they were total strangers. I dunno ... maybe I’m way off base. But the lyric is so intimate that it might have been even more effective if they sang directly to each other?

This is exactly what I would call country music. We need more of this. And less of that pop country crap. love this song. Best duet I've heard in awhile. And I love her voice I could listen to her sing all day and never get tired of her singing. ❤🔥🔥🔥❤

I came up with the best description of most "modern" country music and it's "artists", they are all people who do not actually like country music.
