For 8 years, she suffered through psychological and physical trauma inflicted on her by her ex-husband but now, Rachel is a fighter, fighting to change social attitudes towards violence and help women overcome domestic abuse. I think excuses can be trained through cultural norms. But I also think that as an individual when we come up across moments where we feel like we're confused or justifying someone else's behavior or making excuses for someone else's behavior I think we're experiencing a reorganization of our thoughts. And due to the nature of abuse and the abusive action had taken that your making excuses for is your mind just wrapping itself around the situation and your trying to find something that fits.
