I’d like to dedicate this song, "Body and Soul," as a tribute to my late music partner, Hans Ottsen. We always performed this as an instrumental, and I wanted to share with you my love for the words. Since the pandemic, I’ve been listening to the great jazz women of the past. These include: Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Dinah Washington. I’m learning so much from their recordings, whether it’s the classic 1950s, or their final decades.
For the piano sound, I chose the new Nord Felt Upright, extra large sample, which I downloaded around March. To make the piano sound like a grand, I selected the bright filter on my Nord Grand 88. It’s the perfect piano sound for getting that stripped down, laid-back sound, like the classic recordings of the 1950s.
Hope you’ll enjoy it.

As long as there are good human beings, life remains good and it is recommended to the living in memory of those who have already departed but who remain among us because we want them to never leave us, without their memory we are nothing.

@@adalinerogers4317 It was a choice, as she is emulating the style of the time period of the song and paying homage to some of her favorite singers from that era. Or were Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington also "out of control/breath"?

This is great! Rachel, while you can play like an expert on any instrument and in any genre you try, your voice seems a little too light to handle the progressive rock and stronger pop songs. However, it is ideally suited for this flavor of jazz and early-to-mid 20th century classics like this one. It's like it was written for you.

I think this music is easier to play than say, Keith Emerson, but it is more listenable, reaches a wider audience, and ultimately music was meant to be enjoyed by everyone. So Rachel Flowers shows us here that the secret of the heart is not being better than everyone else. Of course it's an added bonus if you can play like Keith Emerson.

Rachel, as I once said, us can hear your voice from the '30s, '40s or '50s... the Golden Age, of eternal voices from New Orleans, revived by Amy Winehouse, but cut short with her young death. Today collected by you to give it life and freshness again. You're a prodigy of music in one person, where any musical style or instrument does'nt intimidate you, as you challenge them making them shine, your voice are one of them, accompanied by your piano bringing together the best of New Orleans bringing them to us. .. multifaceted, multi-instrumentalist, musical producer of your own albums. True reincarnation of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake with your hands, your feet, your ears and your style that makes them better, without the need to see, just by you feel in your whole body. We only need to imagine you, the Martini on the piano, the gloomy atmosphere of a Jazz and Soul night, the cigarettes smoke and the public admiring you...
