I am the Hmmmm "Old Timer" that Richard is giving a grilling to near the end, in the discussion about shillings & the kings head! The Cheek of it, we're the same age FFS!.:) Just because he has more has more hair then me!! Other then that, it was an awesome pod cast to attend, seeing as I love the bones off of Rachel Parris, the only reason I was there.:)

I wouldn't say it's just because of the hair.

Watching this in 2022, this chat seem so quaint and it’s almost hard to remember a time before both Covid and Season 8 of Game of Thrones bought so much disappointment and sadness to the world.

Thanks, I had not heard of that before, I will give it a go and maybe it will briefly stop me from being my normal curmudgeonly bastard self. [Edit] Just listened to "Alexai Sayle's Imaginary Sandwich Bar" , thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Count Arthur Strong - looks funny on paper - but in reality it is the same level of humor as Clive Dunn's series Grandad.

The radio show is much funnier than the TV series.

I wanted to like it but can't. After all Its from the people who did the holy trinity of IT Crowd, Father Ted and Black Books. But to me at best its sort of just pleasant. Lots of people do like it though.

Depends how horrifically bad they were: There definitely comes a point where the entertainment returns

Sure, there is some ironic mirth to be found, ridiculing their painfully naff attempts at making judgemental self-righteousness seem relevant to youth culture. "Entertaining" and "really cool" are not the same thing though, are they? My comment stands.

I know everything wasn't made for me etc etc....but I can't be the only one who would rather hammer nails in their head than sit through a Jane Austen themed comedy improv show

I was not aware of it but I will have to find it on the radio, have you tried the Jane Austen spoof/mashup film Sense and Sensibility and Zombies?

Hurray! My as-yet-unmodified Emergency Questions app asks what is my favourite member of Blazin' Squad. Well obviously it's the original member, Debbie Blazin'. And I even found the strip club scene in Closer embarrassing so I don't know how well I'd manage in a real one not scripted by Patrick Marber.
