For the very reason that she began the firestorm, her publicist smiled and told her to make a fool of herself, and Disney threw even more fire against the Classic Snow White fans; by stating they are updating the storyline, the characters, and the "values". I have seen international films over the years. I know of independent, intelligent, and passionate film directors, writers, costume designers, etc who have retold old stories through candid and realistic storylines while keeping the *heart* of the old film or book, by removing the "why" the "who" the "timeless values from 18th C to 1945" They are 100% removing the actual meaning and the message that comes with each storytelling perspective. All Ziegler had to do was react, remove herself from the project and Hollyood, have a nice, long vacation. Leaving Disney execs to fend for themselves.

Exactly! The torches, the marches, the oil lamps filled to the brim and the writer's strike were to teach Disney a lesson. All the firestorm was aimed at them. The fact that she thought, "It's all about me!" And she had the inclination to speak about herself as a "I'm a victim" She could have easily, paycheck or no paycheck, she could have left the SW Project and sought other job opportunities. Leaving Disney execs to defend themselves for their own stupidity. I have worked in the modelling and film industry as a writer and I know for a fact, that actors have the right to say no to certain wordings, and exotic scenes and even have an actual body double do that uncomfortable scene. It's been done for decades like that. Some actors have even invested their own time and money into creating movies not knowing if it will become a hit in theatres. Actors do have rights but some do not exercise it because they are afraid of being blacklisted or descend into B/C-listed movies.

You may believe that Rachel was great in West Side Story, but many of us don't. I know the show well, having portrayed Snowboy in 1969 high school! And in the original film, Natalie Wood was excellent. As an older man I've seen my skills diminish, and if it's true Spielberg auditioned thousands of women before selecting HER, then it reinforces the obvious truth that everyone's skill declines with age! She was a weak Maria, especially because she is not particularly attractive or sexy or alluring. My friends and I felt it when we saw the new version, and that's why many of us were shocked when she was selected for Snow White. And Gal as the Evil Queen? That is cruel casting! The Magic Mirror will have no problem dutifully stating Who is the fairest of them all. Unless the thing has going myopic....

This was the same issue with The Little Mermaid with Halle Bailey. Disney allowed the young actress to go in and succumb to the masses and lots of criticism. She also gave a few iffy interviews. I'm sure she's learned her lesson to do some research beforehand and before taking any controversial roles. It's important for them to learn, movies today are unbearable because they aren't being filmed by the creators, they are the 2024 moulders. They don't have the passion and time to see the big picture and research the messaging before retelling or reboots. It's all about money not about passion projects.
