If you're coming from country with four seasons, I think the autumn, winter and early spring months can be bearable but what people always forget to factor in is the wind chill for some reason. I think people tend to underestimate the cold seasons in Melbourne especially just because it says that it's mostly between 3 degrees - 15 degrees Cel. but peopel don't realise that the wind we're receiving is straight up from Antarctica. I can honestly survive a windless 9 degree weather which is very bearable with as opposed to a 13 degree one with wind constantly blowing but that's just me. DOn't even get me started on the lack of heating for houses during winter which can make it colder than it already is lol

wimbletone that is absolutely spot on! I couldn't agree more. I think Australians think Australia is warm on the whole so they dont have proper heating systems and that is really frustrating for me. - Rachel

You are right on! I'm from Perth and visiting Melbourne in winter. I feel that when it is windy the cold is unbearable despite the warm layers of clothing.

Agree bro, ive lived in Melbourne for five years, and I did underestimate the weather, normally one of the most important aspects when im moving to a country or city is to search about the weather climatology etc.. but with Melbourne I automatically assumed that it would be a four seasons city smthg like south of Europe Mediterranean style.

Great video. I loved your tip about Australia getting cold. I made the same mistake the first time that I went to Northern Thailand for a long period of time. We got into winter & I had nothing that I needed lol.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about that haha. I'll make sure to bring some coats for Thailand next time :)

Most people get a rude awakening when they come to Melbourne from Sydney haha. I feel it keeps us grounded and we're more tolerate and patient because of it. Thumbs up for vlogging in such a public area, you have more confidence then I do.

Thanks Kevin! We used to bring our bears to bars and cafes so filming myself in public was piece of piss haha

Hi there! Is there any best time/season to look for a job there? Do you open a local bank account upon your arrival there or before you leave your own country?

Amazing videos Rachen and Nick! been following your channel and provided many guides!. We will be making our first trip to Melbourne in a couple of week. However we are still unsure on how the free public transport system works! I understand there is Free Tram Zone in Melbourne for Bus 35.. however does apply if we take other buses as well such as 48? Does it also mean we do not have to tap on/off when we enter and exit?
@rachelandnick6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Cedric. All trams in the CBD are free. So any tram operating in the free tram zone are free. Once those tram are out of the zone it will cost money and you will have to touch on.

What's the most unexpected thing that's happened to you while traveling?!
@roachtoasties6 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing those are steps somewhere in Federation Square. For your question, one of the most unexpected things to happen to me was when I was traveling alone in Reykjavik, Iceland. I was stopped on the street and was asked "What are you doing here?" She was the manager of the Panera Bread near my home (a quick serve bakery and restaurant chain in the U.S.). I then told her, "I've been looking for you! You shorted me one bagel last week." Anyway, sometimes you do bump into people you know while traveling, but this is the remotest place it's happened to me.
