Besides being hilarious, it's a poignant moment of clarity about her own shortcomings, that most people never have the perspective to realize about themselves. It's some of the most ugly truth that you NEVER see in romances, or stories in general. No matter how bad someone is, they never want, or even think, to see themselves as the bad guy.

The great thing is that in the song itself as she is coming to the realization she also realizes it isn't just black and white. She points out how she donates to charity and helps little old ladies cross the street. But her actions went too far and she became a villain. That doesn't discount the good she has done or can do. Just that she did bad things too out of jealousy. And that was what made her a villain in her own story. Because when she realized she crossed that line she was now the wicked witch with no clue how she got there.

Especially the part where she's like "but wait how am I a villian?" Bc I've had thr same reaction. I've talked allot of people down from suicide to the point where I've lost count so when i had my first friend breakup where i was the cataylist i didnt understand how i could be the problem because ive done so much good. Coming to the realization that youre the problem and working on yourself can be challanging because in my experience you tend to do from one extreme to another. So you start out with "im a good person" to "im an irredeemable horrible toxic monster" and all your faults reaffirmed that belief. Long story short , we all need therapy lmao

Not only do I adore this song in itself, but it perfectly encapsulates the show. This is by far one of my most favorite songs of the series. I love how it portrays Rebecca as someone who think she's sweet and innocent but realizing she's been a villain the entire time. The weird thing is that I can see some Andrew Lloyd Webber influence in this and I've never gotten into his music.
