Hey guys! Welcome back to the second installment of "My Garden Diary." I actually plan to change the name to "Our Garden Diary" because Byron is a huge part of the success of our garden. He's been adding to it little by little in the evenings after dinner while I watch the boys, or they help out and watch what we're up to in the garden. Byron has been building & trying out a few different irrigation options, and it's so cool to see him do that. We've been loving the process. It's so cool to grow your own herbs and produce. It's so rewarding when something grows, and we hope to do a lot more farm to table type recipes in the future. As always thanks for watching and supporting my channel.

I grew up in a city and never saw someone gardening until I moved into a more suburban area I am in right now. It is something I always liked the idea of doing but am afraid to start myself. It seems complicated but also rewarding. I just don’t want to waste my money if it turns out to not go well for me. Such a good relaxing video. Love this series

Hi Rachel! Just found your cool channel today! Yes, I would like to know the soil mixture as well. I live in Virginia and the soil here is not great as it has a lot of clay. In fact, the early settlers in Williamsburg made raised soil beds for this very reason. My first little garden I had as a newlywed all the plants died. So, since then I have become interested in soil and soil health. Thanks for any help that you can give. And I am also in agreement with the commenter above that you should have your own show on HGTV. It would be unique and SUPER helpful to all of us who are trying to learn a healthier lifestyle! Best wishes to you!

My dad built a make shift cover for our garden much like yours. My biggest warning to look out for is snakes. It depends on where you live, but snakes would come from the canal and try to crawl into our garden, but they would get tangled in the net. I can’t say we’ve ever had a problem removing the snakes or a problem with poisonous or venomous snakes, but still something to look out for

Love your videos! A pharmacist here with a personal medicinal garden :) A lot of the plants that are the most used and have health benefits are actually very invasive, so care how you couple them in pots, also most plants that are medicinal don't really like each other, so sticking to same families in the same pot is a good tactic, same as a wedding seating arrangement xD One more thing, we only dry plants to preserve them in storage for a longer time, if you have your own garden, much better to use them freshly picked, with very minor exceptions of course. Much love and best wishes for your thriving garden and family!!! xoxo

I've been wanting my own garden for so long, but i have lived in apartments over the last few years and haven't been able to do it. This summer I am hoping to start small and grow a few herbs :) I love dill and mint! I absolutely loved this video rachel! It was filmed so beautifully and really inspired me to start gardening! xo
@sheliarossell31623 жыл бұрын
Start with herbs in small planters. Look at planters think what plants do I like? Do I want plants' that come back each year. What colors do I like made a plan after you look at plants. What is climate in my area? If You live up stars weight is important you may not want to much on upstairs. Go on you tube home and garden shows displays. Watering is important just enough not over watering or letting them dry out. Planters you can rearrange settings. Hope this helped. We always learn even experts just start.

Beautiful garden, nothing better than a beautiful looking and smelling garden. I would watch out for the mint though, you don't want to put it in a pot with anything else because it will grow and spread like crazy and suffocate your other plants.

You might find that the spearmint takes over the planter, it tends to grow vigorously and roots itself around other plants! Maybe you’ll have better luck than me growing the other types of mint, I hope we can see your garden again soon in another video. I was thinking how dry your soil looks. It’s perfect for lavender and rosemary as they don’t like having wet roots. They are beautiful plants to grow for fragrance. Did you know they don’t grow back from dead wood so don’t chop them back too far. Thank you for this video, it all looks wonderful!
