CHEMIST AGAIN it is a BIG difference between "oxidizing" and "drying down". There was a lot of confusion in the Fenty launch about this. The Fenty foundation DRIES DOWN darker - that means that when the carrier liquid has vapourised, the pigment becomes more concentrated and thus the foundation appears darker. This process is fairly quick and will happen within minutes. Oxidizing is when the pigments or some other remaining ingredient react with sebum on your skin and changes colour. This process takes a bit more time, more like 30-60 mins. Sometimes even more.

Liberal Snöflinga this is actually so interesting! Is there any way to tell if a foundation will dry darker or oxidize? I’m assuming oxidization depends on your skin but what is the usual carrier liquid

@@meowpower08 There is one bomb proof way of telling if it dries down darker. Get a sample and put it somewhere om your skin, does not matter where. I use my hand. After, like, five minutes, put a fresh swatch besides the 5min old swatch. This will tell you immediately if the foundation dries down darker - or lighter (this is unusual though). It is way harder to tell if it is oxidizing since that takes at least 30 mins to figure out, and depends on many many things. A foundation that you use during winter might oxidize during summer when your oils and sweat is/are different. There is probably not a certain carrier liquid associated with any of these phenomena but I imagine that watery foundations like the Fenty one can be more prone to drying down. Fenty foundation is known to dry down one shade darker.

Precisely, why everyone freaks out over the obvious (or maybe not so in new to makeup) is beyond me. I find this to be a good analogy, in regards to the oxidation as to how a perfume will smell differently on me versus someone else, even my sisters. Chemistry, yay! Biology, yay! Yes I'm a nerd, sue me.

It snowed here in Alaska long after we had new buds on the trees & fresh sprouts of grass growing. Then a few days of heavy snows reminiscent of 30+ years ago came in. The seasons are definitely longer in some aspects, not in a good way for the marine mammals or bears unfortunately.

As a makeup artist I don’t because I put concealer under my eyes to brighten and the more product you have the more likely it is to get cakey or settle etc. I would assume this is also why most youtubers don’t either

So my mom uses the it cosmetics cc cream and one day at ulta she asked me what brand it was that she used because she couldmt remember. I told her it was it cosmetics. Hey Rachel, so I also have the Morphe Bronze Goals palette and I too have had trouble with the shimmers...and I looked up some reviews and they said that you have to scrape off the top layer (much like the elf baked highlighters) and they are best applied with the fingers...I've tried with brushes and can't seem to pick them up, but fingers work best :)

I always use foundation under and on the eyes... It works really good... I end up using less concealer to get the dark circles covered and I have a "clean base" on the eyes for the eyeshadow.
