Thank you so much! I must have forgotten that this piece was connected to Chopin. Funny thing, many years ago when I was playing Chopin I learned this first piece by Rachmaninov. I didn't know the connection back then.

Such a natural and imaginative interpreter! Make sure to credit Volodos in his transcription of the 12 Romances, Op. 21: VII. How Fair this Spot.

don't you mean credit Earl Wild? since he did it long before Volodos. the same, really...

What in the world, where is Var 18? It is a necessary transition passage from the funeral march of Var 17 to the brightness of Var 19 (hints of A major, hints of opening "falling fourth and whole-step up")

I simply prefer Scherbakov's virtuosity, this piece is a monstrum of difficulties, and requires not only perfect musicianship but really great virtuosic abitilies. Moreover here i don' t feel the real dramatic tension required between the various variations. A very good effort, in every respect, bravo to this Interpreter, obviously... but Rachmaninov' s Music requires only ...Absolute Greatness.
