While Miss Federova's treatment of the Rach 2 is a very fine performance, I think the real pearl of this offering is the cello sonata. The cello and piano interplay between Kloeckner and Federova is incredibly beautiful. Thank you so much for posting this recording.

Rach was such a genius. I listen to the phrase at around 59:05 and wonder who else could make such beautiful poetry out of repeating a single note over and over and over.

Very nice performance, and it was a soundtrack of a movie "the seven years itch"

Long before that, it was the sound track to Brief Encounter with Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson. A David Lean masterpiece. The pianist then was the great Eileen Joyce. The music dominated the film, unlike the '7 year itch' which just had a few bits of the concerto.

I take your point, but I had the privilege to see Anna Fedorova perform this in the South Bank Centre, London, in February this year, and the audience noises were minimal and didn't distract at all. Perhaps South Bank audiences are better behaved? She is every bit as fabulous live as she is in recordings, and somehow communicates with the audience in some way to bring Rachmaninoff himself to the concert. I'm sure he, too, would be impressed! Brilliant!
