Probably the best performance I have ever heard of this wonderful work! Truly great pianist, and excellent orchestra and conductor. Never a dull moment -- every single note is a delight, and a memorable experience.

I NEVER tire of listening to Lilya Zilberstein's interpretation of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini. This is the best rendition I have ever heard yet! :-)

She has power. She has an absolute feel for Rach. So authorative.

lo más genial de Rachmaninov es la maravillosa transición que hace entre las dos melodías: 14:46 a 17:28

The very best video, and audio, and performance of anything that I have seen and heard. Sets a new standard for online performance, editing, photography and especially for the smile on the face of Inbal as he thereby informs all of the treat that is coming!

OMG!!! Have you ever seen such power and finesse combined? I haven't and I have seen a lot. Lilya looks like a young Jackie DuPre (yes?) What a treat to watch Inbal conduct. Notice Inbal's exuberant smile at the opening - who wouldn't be so excited for a performance like this? Thank you for the post and giving a head's up on Lilya's doings. - roberta from minnesota ( i am still overcome with this performance as I write this), But above all the love for the music she exudes!

Bravo Lilya, una versión explendida. La versión de los conciertos 2 y 3 de Rachmaninov es para mi una de las mejores, con Claudio Abbado y Berliner Philarmoniker

It is a shame that this video is so 'under-viewed'...especially when many performances by 'better-known' pianists fall short. I agree with vova47 that she's not very exciting, but her execution and stamina are enviable. For very different search results, try searching "Рахманинов Паганини Рапсодия".

Dear Simon and vova, as first, please, don't say about politics, it is usuall conspiration and this is a art, not bussiness. As second, Lilya is first world class pianist, she is among 10 best pianists in the world and she is among cca 5 truly musicians and is concert partner of Martha Argerich. How can you say such things? Are you trying make people angry? Lilya is technically unlimited and I could hear each note. She was deeply concentrated from beginning to the end.

She isn't sexy blondie in red garderobe, yes, her face is not from playboy, but she has very nice soul and music, that flows from it. She is truly artist, not showwoman, as we can see often today. Please, listen ones more. She has so beautiful melodies and soft ton, never this sharp one. If she can't play for public, who????

......And she knows very good her limit as nobody and that's why she plays a little bit slower tempos, but very precise. When she is playing, there is some special aura of nice music. Nothing, only very nice. Slower tempo is her style, very inteligent, because bad technique. If you goes to concerts, you must know, that there is usually much more mistakes, than here. In live recording, she plays very very clearly. It's important, what you evaluate...

..Lilya..¡ que empeño !..Y sin poses eróticos..(la mala costumbre de hoy). Tan solo sabes que estas frente a una gran orquesta..y ..un buen autor de la música..Y das todo.. ! Adelante !..tus deditos de gran fortaleza..caminan..bailan..encantan..obedecen a tu disciplina de horas.. ..Ah !..y tu soberbia personalidad..te hace BELLA....(si tan solo pudiese limpiar tu piano..)

Here, Lilya Zilberstein beats Artur Rubenstein, and the Turin Orchestra beats the Chicago Orchestra; and I say this with a little bit of reluctance, because I was born in Chicago, and raised in Evanston.

Byron Janis is also great in this piece, But Lilya has a healthier approach and no neurotic qualities at all,so while being a shade less exciting, perhaps it suits Rachmaninoff a little better. He was a very healthy pianist....But they both definitely great, this side of Moiseiwitsch and Rachmaninoff himself.
