Rachmaninoff would have loved this performance. All the energy is there along with the wonderful phrasing! Bravo to both pianists.

Love this version!! Anybody get the complete suite of the concert? BTW, why both them play full chord at the final instead of vibrato involved?
@ClassicalRaritiesChannel5 жыл бұрын
The tarantella was played as an encore, so unfortunately no complete suite from that concert!

.......they would have then lifted their Steinways on their shoulders and set fire to them, but they were by then too hot to the touch - already alight! We can safely leave that superfluous feat of showmanship to the realm of the Rock "musicians".
Very good. However, I know their recording of the same piece from many years earlier, which was the first recording that got me hooked on the piece. This, unfortunately, pales in comparison. The energy I heard on that earlier recording still stays with me, while this is a (very high level) shadow of it.
@robertz.5963 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, where could this earlier recording be found?

@@robertz.596 As far as I'm aware, it's only available through their record label, Hyperion Records

Why so aggressive touch, it is a tarantelle, a dance
@davidmcnulty36187 жыл бұрын
Love it. Two of my favourite Pianists in this repertoire. But too slow! Why? It's not the alla Marcia. They can play it faster as proven by their recording and I don't hear any hidden subtlety gained by the slower tempo
@MrRayne9117 жыл бұрын
Really? I find all the other performances either way too fast for me to hear all the subtleties, or too slow dragging unnecessary portions way too long... I'm no music critic but I like this performance the most. Everything just feels right.
@sambaransarkar55516 жыл бұрын
This is the best performance among all I found in youtube. Making it faster could have missed the subtle strength which the music needed.
