The first time I got into a car with my instructor, I put my left foot over the brake, she said what are you doing? This is wrong, and for 3 years I was driving with only my right foot. But I recently got a FFB wheel and some pedals to play sim racing and I noticed that using both feet gave me a huge boost in performance, so I started implementing it to real life, literally 2 weeks after I “mastered” my left foot braking- I saved myself from a collision with an adult idiot driver who swerved out of his lane to avoid a pot hole while doing 40mph on a 25mph + instruction zone. I stomped the brake so fast that i didn’t even think about it. 😊

I drive 18 wheeler hauling bulk chemical. Weights 78 to 80,000 lbs. left foot braking is the only way to control the surge.

Left foot braking is essential for any type of performance driving. This includes driving your daily with high speed around corners or when driving in low grip conditions like snow or ice. Managing your vehicles balance in low grip conditions is extremely important. Practicing to get good braking at low speeds is not dangerous and should be drilled by all drivers. You should also practice other techniques like rapid turning to maintain muscle memory and catching slides in snow or hard braking in snow or rain. Obviously begin practice these in lots or private property but these techniques can save your life or the person you would have hit had you not actually learned how to drive.

My mother in law drove with both her feet (everyday driving). Drove me nuts when following behind her.

Would you suggest left foot braking for racing, even when there’s three pedals

Yes, I use it for corners where I need to scrub a little speed but don’t need to downshift

I remembered the first time I tried left foot braking in an impromptu race on the mountain pass, I tried little taps to avoid locking my brakes and I more or less could shift the weight back and forth preventing some understeer. I tried it on a straight and lets just say that the initial hard braking only made me press HARDER on the brakes with my left foot until the point I SLAMMED to a halt and stalled the car. Lesson here is... you dont left foot brake in a straight, much less without the necessary sensitivity on the left foot.

The lesson is that you're just inexperienced. Left foot braking on a straight is normal for people used to it.

Why is this weirdly text-to-speeched with a dubiously written narration? There's nothing really new to be learned from this video.
