12:25 it’s because you then turn from your elbows instead of your shoulders. If your too far back you can only get 1/2 a turn either way before your forearms touch each other, when your closer in you can get nearly 3/4 of a turn each way without taking your hands off the 3&9 positions on the wheel

Karl was some driver in this. I had no idea watching back then as a kid that he was so hampered by budget constraints and had those limitations in the build. You'd never have known sometimes watching him. Always had a soft spot for that livery too, was just a bit different.
