The man's forgotten more about riding a winning race at the highest level than most could ever hope to learn in their lifetime. One of the most cool headed, shrewd, and calculating jockey's I ever saw.

Not sure how common it would be for a jockey to visit a horse he'd last (race) ridden 15 years ago but, much like John Oxx last year, you could really see Mick Kinane's face light up when talking about Sea The Stars so to casually drop in that he'd seen him the day before was a touching moment. Another in an excellent series of interviews by Rishi Persad and Steve Mellish.

Fantastic recap of an amazing career. Giant's Causeway's loss in the BC Classic was hard, but Tiz Now was so extremely game, taking nothing away from Giant's Causeway because he was brilliant.

In my opinion , Sea The Stars was never extended in his 6 group 1 romps as a 3 year old ! I read somewhere years ago that Mr Henry Cecil stated that the triple crown should have been the Guineas ,the Derby and the Ascot Gold Cup . I believe Sea The Stars would have completed that feat easily . From a miler to a proper stayer with the finesse of a locksmith ! PS ..would Frankel have stayed a true run mile and a half race ? Considering they were scared to try him over that distance , im not so sure ?

Giants causeway and RoG in the US weren't his finest moments but we are talking about a racing legend here so let's talk about his rides on Montjeu and Sea of Stars in the Arc, Rock of Gibraltar in the Irish guineas and Vintage Crop in the Melbourne cup. He had balls of steel and rarely was beaten in a tight finish. A true gent too who was always on hand to give younger jockeys advice.

@@sionrouge1697 Tiznow will always be remembered as a legendary horse but if Kinane hadn't of dropped his reins at a crucial point I think the Iron horse may have beaten him. Sakhee's rider made the mistake of getting into a battle with Tiznow instead of trying to stay away from him. Both European horses were racing on a dirt surface for the first time, I very much doubt Tiznow would have finished within a head of either in a 10f race at royal Ascot or York.
