Your little 5hp hit 54kph now your 9.8hp is doing the same speed, Do you think it might be hull related that your sticking around the mid 50's?

Hi mate, I’m sure hull speed is part of it but the 5hp reaches just over 30mph which is about 48.7kph. The mod 9.8hp is the one that reached 54kph but it’s still running pretty low and I’ve got a lot more to do on the lower unit (I’m hoping for over 60kph) Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

Hey mate I’ve got a 8hp tohi that I’ve been getting 35kmh out off, I’m wondering what’s the simplest mod to do that makes a difference to my speed. I was also wondering if the hydrofoils that oz props sells will help stop cavving out when I lift up my motor

Hi mate, unfortunately a foil won’t stop cavitation. boat weight, trim and propeller are best options for quick speed gains. cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

Do you maybe know a good way to get props for a 1990 25hp merc 2 stroke? We were on a suzumar 310 rib and only got 48kmph... Would love to see 60.. Max rev range. Prop is a "48 19640 A40 13P" sadly i cant find a prop with more pitch that would fit...

Hi Mate, I believe you can get a 14p for those motors but 48kph isn’t too bad. how much weight is onboard? I have reqchef around 55 to 60kph with that motor but that was on a very light aluminum boat with nothing onboard except me 78kgs and 8 liters of fuel. The 25hp USA Mercury runs very well with the 13p prop. Questions- how deep is the cav plate in relation to the keel and how much weight is onboard while your reaching 48kph? @@25hpboatracerman there is only me (85kg) and my friend (also 85kg) the suzumar weighs roughly 30ish kg and the motor is 50-60 kg i think... Also, when he drives alone, he cant even go full throttle because it starts to wobble

Ok, So two onboard. I reckon it’s kinda doing ok at 48kph. From my experience the inflatable boats are not fast as some are like a suction cup on the water unless they are a ridged inflatable and the tubes are fully out of the water at speed. How deep is the motor? The cav plate in relation to the keel? Motor height is super important and will cause what your talking about with the wobbling and also cause a lower top speed

Love the videos mate 👌 I have a Tohatsu 15hp short shaft on a Quintrex Dart 3.7. Getting around 30km/h out of it with two adults 70kg and 110kg with some gear as well. Any basic mods you can recommend to get more speed out of it? Prop is a alloy 9.25x 8.5 Cheers.

Hi mate, sounds about right for a 15hp with that much weight. unfortunately not easy to get a heap more power without spending lots of money or taking it completely apart and learning how to port, adding a bigger carburetor and constructing a high compression head. To think you can actually achieve over 33 mph on 15hp is out of this world! That is some awesome performance gain over stock, because no matter how light your boat is you can't even get close to that fast with that size engine stock.
