Regarding the 1938 record runs, Caracciola states in his book that he advised Rosemeyer not to run as the wind was picking up. Additionally, he also says he was there when Rosemeyer crashed and that the doctor for both teams came up to the car he was sitting in and told them "He's laying there, as though nothing is unusual and he's sleeping"

Rosemeyer was a great driver. I highly recommend the book written by his wife Ellie. The picture of him with the Vanderbilt cup is on the cover.

they were incredibly fearless. Nothing but admiration and awe for Rosemeyer and his contemporaries.

+Fritztoons That's not true. The most logical explanation for this: The person who wouldn't like this video is a man named Ettore Bugatti. Frenchmen despised Germans in the 1930s, and Ettore was no exception. At the end of 1936, He, along with dozens of other Frenchies were fed up by the Germans going all crazy with the power, so Bugatti boycotted Grand Prix racing and did Sportscar racing professionally from that point on. At the beginning of 1938, the French people who organised the EDC enforced a 3 liter rule so that the Germans were not nearly as fast. Thankfully enough, this idea worked, and thanks to that, the French Grand Prix returned to he Championship, and Delahaye introduced themselves to GP racing, and Bugatti would return as a part-time hobby, because their car was far too antique to be used all the time.
