Get a tap and die set and retap the threads to a slightly smaller size. The one that broke can be removed with an EZ out and some good tungsten tipped drill bits and replaced with a new stud. All of which should be available at any decent hardware store. Time to become experts on damaged and broken screws and studs. Living on a boat, that won’t be the last time you’ll need those skills.

Sorry to hear what happened to the door of your fire. The same thing happened to mine. In the end I rented a tool called a stud welder, you need absolutely no skilk to use it fortunately, as I can't weld even slightly. You just load a bold into its gun, put the end of it on the door and pull the trigger, and the bolt is welded to the door. It mains powered, but it might draw a bit too much power for your inverter so if you decide to do that I'd find a mains socket you can plug into. I rented mine for the afternoon from tool station, it cost about £40.

Bless you Amy, this years cold and flu season is really pulling the rug out from under people. So try not to push yourself too much so it doesn’t linger. Massive congratulations Wes for getting so far… I hope you guys are close to a chippy so you can treat yourselves. Make sure to keep warm and cosy as much as you can. Did you treat yourselves to an electric blanket to help if the fire goes out during the night? Sending 🤗🤗

3:17 Not sure if you know this already, but the plant with the round leaves and orange flower is called a nasturtium. Both the leaf and the flower are edible. They’re nice in a salad!
@SecretSquirrelFun Жыл бұрын
I was just about to type the same thing 🙂 Although I was going to add that eating the small caper-like pods that appear is not necessarily advisable. The flowers and leaves have a mustard like or wasabi kind of flavour 🙂🐿🌈❤️

@@SecretSquirrelFun I find them a bit peppery so got to thinking they may not even like them, but I hope they try it! I love your name!
@SecretSquirrelFun Жыл бұрын
@@Travelwiththetwins thank you 🙂. Yeah, the flavour is a bit intense. The flowers look nice in a salad though. I just realised that the main point I meant to add for Amy was. - the nasturtium plant with the yellow/orange flowers isn’t a green beans vine. But your time stamp should cover that 🙂.

Hi guys. That was great teamwork well done, your fire will be fine till you can get it done as long as no fumes are coming in otherwise you can stick it in with the fire cement we did a similar thing a few years back lasted the whole of the winter.

I added a comment 3 vlogs, ago, to fix your door on your fire, drill out the broken bolts all the way through the door at a diameter to have a bolt all the way through, put fire cement on bolt and use nut and washer on inside. Cost about £2. If you feel uncapable of doing this way, remove fire rope from inside of door glass and stick the glass in with fire cement.
@BoatTime2 жыл бұрын
Sorry if we missed your comments, we try to reply to all of them. 😟 I've just gone back and read, and we really appreciate your tips, but we don't always have access to the tools when we are in the middle of nowhere. That is a good idea with removing the fire rope, but for now our solution is holding up a month later (the videos are a month behind) but we are going to get it fixed at a yard in the new year as we need a few other bits doing anyway. 😊 thanks for watching!

Glad you made it! Well done Wes on your single handed cruising…..you smashed it. Hopefully your both better and hope you have a fabulous Christmas and new year. We are in Oxford from boxing day so if you have any tips it would be much appreciated 🎄🎄🎅👍

Thank you for watching 🤞🏻😊 Same to you! Merry Christmas! 🎄 Oooo enjoy! We loved Oxford! Not sure what the river is like this time of year, but our favourite moorings in Oxford were port meadows and above Osney lock. We didn't actually go on the canal bit of Oxford so cant help with that unfortunately. Our biggest tip is make sure before you arrive in oxford you find a facilities because there are none in the centre! oooh and Bens cookies are amazing in the indoor market😜🍪Hope you enjoy 😊

Have you thought about getting the radiators working, then at least you could use them as a back up if needed.
@Retire4442 жыл бұрын
You do not need a welder to repair your stove door. If you go online you can see a tool called a bolt stud extractor. It is easy to use but you need to take care when you drill into the centre of the broken stud, so that you can incert the easyout tool, which will remove the damaged bolr from the door.

Green bean plant isn’t a bean it’s a nasturtium. You can eat the leaves and flowers.

So what was in that Amazon box? U said u would tell us& didnt.. 😭😂 I am nosy, I know.. That was a great vlog.. kept me on the edge of my seat. I so feel for u 2 being sick. Man I could feel this one& was right there with yah. Ugh that rain.. by now u guys are hopefully all healthy again. It is really incredible u guys made it through the closure with everything u had going on!!! So happy u guys are able to totally enjoy the season. Cant wait for next week.. and please please please... do order a new door, or call a local welder& set up an appt. It really shouldnt cost a lot to get this done. I am an old welder, this really isnt a big job.. now although I am a female welder.. cough.. generally due to it being such a male dominated industry.. if a woman calls a shop.. cough, cough, hint hint.. and talks bout how cold it is on the boat& that its just done jerry rig style.. cough cough.. and that there are animals around .. they prob squeeze u in fairly fast .. cough cough .. u didnt hear this trick from me though.. its really is a safety issue. Anyhoo. Hope u guys are grand.
