Chrysler 9.25 rebuild & REGEARING. EASIER THAN YOU THINK?!

Showing you guys how to rebuild and re gear and Chrysler 9 1/4 rear differential. We install a 3.92 ratio ring and pinion and show you how to replace differential side bearings, pinion bearings and properly set up your 9.25 rear differential for long life. These 9 1/4 chrysler are in 1994 to present 1500 rams, durangos, dakotas and a lot of lighter duty chrysler vehicles.

I have a 3.55 in mine because I’m running a 727. Have a 3.92 set for if I ever want to go to the track down the road.

Hey .. great video guys I really enjoyed it , very well explained . I’d say you’ve done that a time or two lol ! My truck came with 392 gears an 17 inch rims An I run 305 45 17 dot Mickey Thompson street an track for summer on rear An I also have 20 inch rims with 275 45 20s I run in winter ! 👍

I’m running some 33” MTs, my new 4.56 gears came in. I don’t have the tools or know how, nor time, to do this myself so I’m taking it to my shop but I can’t wait. Don’t know what gear ratio it has stock, but I know it’s slow off the line unless I gun it to 3k+ rpm lol. I also use my truck for towing.

Very well explained. That axle adjuster is a life saver! It makes it so easy to adjust. Tips I have to share for those who don’t have a press. Cut out the old bearing like shown in the video. Put the new bearings into your oven at 350 degrees for about at least 30 minutes (longer you leave it in the better result you get) Put your carrier and pinion in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. (The longer you leave it in the better result you will get) Take out your carrier and set it up on the table then get the bearings and it will just drop in all the way. Wait few minutes for the temperature of the bearing and the carrier to stabilize and it is set. (Usually take about 15 minutes) Repeat for the other side. You will need to do the oven/freezer again because the carrier would have cooled up too much for the other bearing to drop on. Do the same for the pinion once you get the correct depth as explained in the video. Then do the rest of the set up as shown in the video.

@@RacingRamFam haha my wife accepts it since I use my garage fridge since it only have my garage related drinks and food. Also I have an old stove in my garage as well for powder coating this reason. So I am golden. For those who don’t want to sleep in the dog house after getting someone in their household all upset, just wait until everyone is off to bed and do it in the middle of the night! 😂 But if you get caught, as my close friend always says,” it is better to get forgiveness than ask for permission” just sayin.

Our church van is getting some rear end noise. I have been told axle bearing, or pinion bearing. After watching this I am going to give it a try. Where did you get the tool for tightening the carrier side bearings?

Yes prob pinion bearing and I made it my self out of a bar and two 36mm nuts

You could let us know more about that "special tool". Is it a nut on a shaft? Could I weld the right size nut to a shaft and have my own special tool or do I have to pay $146 to buy one on eBay? What size is the nut?

dude how the hell do you know how to do everything on the ol ram? i need to change out both seal on the front axle and i’m nervous about taking out the housing because i’ve never done it haha

Ya the front axle seal on the passenger side you need a special tool to do it but there not to bad

Just did that on my dodge not to Long ago I need that tool to adjust bearing preload turn out a front cv axle nut works welded it on a pipe and wawa lol

Yes bearing material in the threads spray it with brake clean and blow it out with compressed air

@@RacingRamFam Thank you, I pulled the diff tonight, I made the mistake of trying to loosen the axle adjuster with the bearing caps still tightened, pulled the bearing caps and it is still tight on the adjuster . I can get about a turn and half going in or out and then feels like it binds up. Think it’s still material? I don’t think I would have cross threaded or damage the threads with about a turn on the adjuster Thank you very much

Gets it very close sometimes you can have to check your gear pattern

I have a chrysler 9.25 limited slip 3.55 ratio. What can I do to eliminate clutch packs? I am rear differential illiterate. I have watched every video I can find. One guy does it but he doesn't indicate what his replacement is or at least I have not found where he mentions it.

You could go open diff or a Detroit locker which is a spiral style locker

@@RacingRamFam Thanks I am afraid I will be rebuilding the differential. My rear brakes and seals are shot. It literally leaks axle oil into my brake drums. I don't hear anything grinding or rubbing yet. I know with a problem like this be prepared for a complete overhaul.

Just the inner bearing outer is not a press fit

Bro nice job can't wait for my t-shirt to come in and when I eventually go from a procharger to twin turbos I'll just bring it to you and pay you to put twin turbos on by the way I want to let everybody know where I get a lot of my performance parts for my 5.9 Magnum motor are Hughes engines, hipotek, of course jeg an summit racing, Moparperformanceonline , performance injection equipment these are the places that I'm getting my parts from to build my pro charge 426 hemi Magnum motor but if you don't have a stock bore and it's bigger like the one on my new engine I have my bored 60 over technically you'll be getting a 433 cubic inch motor if you put that stroker kit in I've been rebuilding this truck from front the rear for the last 2 years but this goddamn pandemic has been messing with my money flow so it's taking me awhile if things keep going the way they are it'll be another year and a half before I get my truck done and I have a 1999 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 sport with a 5.9 Magnum motor and because I'm from Texas I called my truck Chuck Norris
