As u explained most people in almost all the countries are really good. Silence and ignorance are two remedies to deal with certain silly situations. In other cases I agree with your suggestions.

Indians only like aesthetically appealing people ....most Indians are racist ... Americans are just rarely racist.. Chechi haven't experienced racism in India cos you are light skinned or white for Indians... African-Americans or Africans do not come to India as tourists cos they know they are gonna get humiliated... Racism or much likely aesthetic discrimination is prevalent in most Indian minds... Comments like... “കറത്ത് കരിവാളിച്ച്..." literally makes most dark skinned Indians feel humiliated and teased ...there is no one to support or encourage dark skinned people in India(except for some rare good souls) cos dark skinned are not another race...in..India 😢

Hi Louise, thats true, fairness obsession in our country is another topic all together, but glad to see things are changing slowly at least with our generation. I wanted to include our racism part too including to our North east friends , may be in another video. But thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Hmmmm. Shiji is so soft spoken and simple . Her house must be peaceful.. a noisy or naggy women is one of the most trouble some thing i still fail to handle myself . By the way Racism is not just skin tone alone if u look at in diffrent points.. In singapore. She can easily mistaken for a helper or philipino . Am not looking down for helpers in general. Infact i have seen beautiful girls who have to work as helpers due to their life circumstances. If u r not arab u can expereince severe double standards in middle east.. if u r not chinese enough u can also expereince double standards. If u look like pakistani u might be branded from a terrorist country.. so i meant to say race issue is not skin color alone .. Despite being an indian i felt so much trouble with my fellow state indians than foreigners if u look at the amount of encounters. Thats what we r callec incredible india. We are strangers to our own people due to our beliefs our cast system and so forth..

Really nice of you for sharing your experiences. To see and experience racism we need not even go out of our country. As you said it is ignorance. People are racist or become racist on some particular instance because they don't think before they talk. They might not have enough exposure to different kind of people and situations to understand how serious effect such small comment can have on the other person. So, if possible (agani as you said), we should try and talk to them, but of course safety first.

Racism, discrimination and sexism is significantly more towards Indian women in Western countries compared to towards Indian men. That’s why Indian origin women end up having their own small circle of friends and lead Isolated lives. Integration into western culture doesn’t happen via language only, it happens via other things baseball, video games, weapons, clubs, politics etc... These are going to be tough areas for an Indian woman. I never understood why a woman should leave a comfortable place like Kerala and settle in Australia. Financial reasons, may be. But the strange thing is that you ask an Indian guy he will always say he is just OK in US or UK and won’t mind moving back and the women always say they love it here. Strange world we live in.
@SimplyShijiCanada4 жыл бұрын
I guess women have less 'societal pressure' as they are away from their countries.Also most women at least in the earlier times just followed their husbands giving up on their careers or ambitions.
@rupaabhi4 жыл бұрын
You have a point. Sad to see nothing really changed in decades and may be things have become worse for Indians. I am just sad that others are still exploiting our peaceful natures . Anyway positive attitude and optimism is the way forward.
