I went through this when I got a black best friend in high school. Her mom judged me the first day I came over since I'm white and German (Nazi comments were made ugh), but I was kind and a great friend to her daughter and as she got to know me, she began treating me as her own child. It was a great lesson for us all. Sadly, they moved away before graduation, but we stay in touch from time to time. These days are even harder with all that goes on politically and racially but if we stand together love can conquer all.
@rosaestela10002 жыл бұрын
I hope will all this technology you were able to find your friend and keep in touch once again. The color of your skin has nothing to do with the kind of person you are, I am glad her mom realized you were a good person and a good friend. I wish more people thought like the mom. I used to work in a kitchen at a facility for mentally and physically disabled individuals. My bosses were black as well as most of the other workers there. I experienced a lot of racism. The lady boss and her sister are racist. She picked on me so much that I would cry many days.It got to the point that I needed help mentally and went to a clinic. After that I was able to work in another department. My point is that they treated me bad because I am white. They went through the civil rights era and I was only born at that time. I also grew up in a black neighborhood and sometimes got picked on for being white. I hate what the whites did to them, but I am the only one I can control and can't help what was done to anyone before or after I was born.

Thank you so much Luis! We really needed someone to talk about the unseen racism that some white people face too! It is very stereotypical to assume that only black people face it and to turn a blind eye towards the racism against the white community. It never works in a single direction. It works in all ways. After the father yelled “You just couldn’t stick to your own sport, huh”, I remembered the name ‘James Naismith’…. …I deeply sighed with a facepalm thinking to myself: ‘Oh ignorance - Blissful as a piña colada, but unstable like a soap bubble…’

Love the positive message which is so true we do fear what we don't understand. So as people we need to stop and show more love that is the only way.

Racists come in all skin tones. This story was intense, but the message was a good one and I liked the ending.

As someone who has seen every single episode of Life Lessons With Luis, this is identical to one of his first videos, just the races are switched. Hopefully he isn't running out of ideas🤞🏾

The truth is that no matter what race you are. There is always a bit of racism, just we need to realize and not be to quick to judge but to accept!

Parents need to let go - it is always difficult, but know that your kids are not yours - you are the medium by which they come to have their soul experience on earth. Teach them the basics, right, wrong, in-between and let them learn/experience life for themselves, but be there when they need a shoulder!!
