Hope your plea isn't falling on deaf ears. A little humor, honestly not meant to be at your expense. Because I feel for you as my hearing isn't what it used to be either --but I'm learning to laugh at so many losses as I grow old.

This goes the movie, "Paper Moon", one better -- portraits instead of bibles. I wonder if the movie didn't borrow from this episode, but then again there are probably hundreds of Hearse Chaser stories on file. The acting in this is right up there with a good B/Noir-type movie. In fact the leading lady looked a lot like Virginia Mayo. Thanks Audio Video for such a good upload. 7/2019

The Bible con is a very old one, Paper Moon got it from Real Life.

Years ago, there was a local handyman business in the UK near me that was caught for this dirty trick. He would find out who died, then send a bill for imaginary work done for the deceased (e.g fix a leak, hang a oicture). The executors would simply pay the bill without checking in most cases.

Lou Christi then went straight and reincarnated into a 1960s Rock and Roll star ("Lightning Strikes Again"). BTW, this racket is quite like that used in the movie, "Paper Moon" where Mose (Ryan O'Neill) sells bibles, supposedly ordered by deceased members of the family, to the survivors.

And she was probably able to keep the portrait for nothing.. Seems like she found happiness in it anyway....also, doesn't the victim have to press charges?

McNeil island Washington? Oil painting would never have dried in time, wife wouldn't say hi by name walking into a room. A little lame story...most business men of his ilk would have had a portrait in their office, and besides how did the perp know he didn't have one already? And the ol 'my heart' trick.....

Many 50s TV shows used the same music. There were about 5 tracks that about 5 different shows utilized.

@@jimlaguardia8185 thank you for that information...do you have inside information? Did you work for the studios or are you just a good historian?

This series often used music cues from the Mutel production music library (which were also used during the first season of "THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN"). Some examples at 3:30 and 16:15. The cue heard at 10:24 was later used as the closing theme in syndicated prints of Bob Cummings' "MY HERO".
