I also have a 2019 Rad Rover. I bought it at the beginning of 2019 and haven't had any problems with it at all. The environment I live and ride my bike in is totally different from the one shown in your video blog. During the year I've had my bike I've never ridden it on a paved surface, it's always been ridden on the soft, dry sand of the Southern California Mojave Desert. The bike has also never been up to full speed. I'm 82 and love this bike. The way it's been engineered is super. I slip and slide into soft falls about 10 percent of the times I ride, but since I've learned to go SLOW, I've never been hurt and neither has the bike. Little by little I'm gaining a lot of skill in riding over the almost pristine sand, ruts, and ravines of my home area. The joy of riding a QUIET, powerful machine in a remote landscape is beyond any experience I've had. The Rad Rover is a remarkable machine, and electric vehicles are absolutely the wave of the future. Thank you for your video blogs they're very interesting, well done, and helpful.

Glad to hear your problem was fixed with the Rad Rover. I have one as well and found out the original local bike shop (American Cycle and Fitness)that I brought it to assemble for $175. They didn't assemble the bike correctly and for a year I rode it with a loud whirring noise, metal scrapping sound when gliding and the brakes getting loose too easily. After that first year I took it to REI and they diagnosed the problem and corrected everything. Now my only problem is my new Hollywood Sport Rider Ebike rack. I took it to U Haul to get the hitch ands they put the bike rack on only problem is the snap link hole does not line up properly, all parts that need to be manipulated are "stiff as hell" and there is "no user manual" so simple things like the key lock are difficult to figure out unless you play with many times until you figure it out. I will now have to bring it back to U haul and demand they explain some things that they didn't do the first time.

Hi David. I am sorry to hear that you are have problems with your Rad. I had no problems putting mine together myself, got lucky. I like REI, they do good work. I hope U Haul will get your rack fixed as well. I know I still LOVE riding mine. Ride RAD, ride safe, and have fun.

Thank you for taking the time to detail the problem and solution. I've just decided to order the RadRover and have been looking up every bit of info possible and it's good to know their service is solid. Now, thanks to you, if anyone runs into this they know to check the controller first. Thanks again!

Hi KrazyKrws. Glad you found the video useful. As I always say “I love my RadRover”. In fact I just got back from a 20 mile ride. And, I was smiling the whole time. Enjoy yours. Be safe and have fun.

Thank you for taking the time to post this I was just having problems and I switched out the throttle, the PAS sensor and the Controller with my husbands bike that was working and all of them resulted in the same thing no solving the issue. I watched your video and after having problems for weeks thinking this is a piece of equipment it's now resolved because of a setting. Thanks again for posting this truly was a bike saver and solved my problems too, I appreciate it!

Thanks😀 I noticed that in your control screen your tire size is set at 22. Set it to 28 for our Rover tall tires. That way your indicated speed and miles traveled will be correct. Set at 22 it’s off by a good bit. Thanks also for the tip on setting the maximin speed to 40 kilometers I just changed mine.

Thanks John. I will adjust that. I had noticed it was off a bit from my GPS tracking. Love my Rover!!

Great video, thank-you My RAD is a 2021 RAD Step-thru Mini and we’re experiencing similar issues… Although I was extremely optimistic to try your solution, my bike had the proper settings… ☹️ As far as RAD support goes, IMO… it’s kind of hit-and-miss… great support people and… some that are less than helpful.

I have a 2018 Radriver and it seems to not even draw any watts to the motor. Both the throttle and pedalling won't use the battery. The battery doesn't appear to be the issue though because if I turn the headlight on it works fine so the battery is supplying power to that but not the motor.
@MetalDetectingRVer4 жыл бұрын
Hi Grant. If you haven’t yet check the connections from the controller and the motor. Rare Rover has a good customer service department, at least the helped me. Give them a shout. Let me know if you get it fixed.

Hey Bud, really appreciate you taking the time to detail your bike problem and explaining how you resolved it. Well, I’m a subscriber now. One question. Unless I missed it, did your washing the bike have anything to do with the onset of your problems. While the issue was resolved did was the controller the problem all along because it got wet? Just trying to figure out what started your problem, thanks again and be safe. 👍
@MetalDetectingRVer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony. The only thing I could really figure is that the controller display got changed to not produce max wattage. It wasn’t that it was wet. I was very happy with the service received from Rad. I do love riding my rover, it puts a smile on my face. Be safe and happy ridding.

Say, I just got the Rover, but it really struggles going up hills. I weigh 280. Am I too big for the bike? What settings are best for climbing hills? Thanks
@MetalDetectingRVer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Big Sky Guy. Not sure if you are “to big” for the bike or not, but don’t think so. When I go up hills I start by down shifting to a lower gear ( a lot of time all the way down to 1st gear), and use the throttle. Some times I also go up to peddle assist 5 (I normally travel in p/a 3). Hope this helps. Have fun and. ride safe.

A great story of wonderful tech support and the solution which fixed it was at 07:49. Great video and it is good to know as well that this company really cares about and has great reviews on support, which most people find to be their number one concern when dealing with a new company. Rad Power Bikes has a great reputation for customer support and this video shows it for sure. It is also good to see a customer who knows how things work and how to deal with a company without flying off the handle in a 'road rage' shall we say :) Great video sir.

Where can you get extra battery for this radrover 5 for a good price? Also if you are out there biking do you carry a portable to charge the battery?
@MetalDetectingRVer4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay. There are several places to get extra battery’s. Bolton ebikes is one. Just do some searching. I don’t have one. I don’t carry my charger with me. I can go 25 miles on a charge so I just plan my trips or monitor mileage while riding and plan my return point. Hope that helps. Enjoy the ride and have fun.

Took delivery of a Rad Rover 5 on 9/25/2020. Battery was defective. Contacted Rad power bikes product support team. Sent them a video of the problem. As of 10/02/2020, I am still waiting for them to decide if they are going to send me a new battery. So at this point I will reserve any negative comments about my customer service experience and hope for the best.
