Velen remind me my place - Leningrad Oblast - swampy, gloomy place with ancient ruins and human bones coming from earth sometimes, lots of old villages (some dating from 10th century), often abandoned. There is still exist some ancient pagan shrines, sacrifice boulders for example.

The theme starting from 00:00 (and 25:15) is just synonymous with Velen for me, riding Roach through the night with the wind howling and battering the trees. The theme from 22:27 reminds me of areas north of Oxenfurt and the Inns at the Crossroad, I remember doing the Hearts of Stone DLC with it playing all the time.

Velen is a rude and filthy war torn wasteland. I imagine this kind of music playing if you were to be traveling through the war torn country sides of the American Civil War or through rural France during the Second World War. With that said though, it is very relaxing music and has that calm before the storm vibe to it.

When I see No Man's Land sentence and hear this music. It takes me back 8 years ago. There was a place I would call a No Man's Land. If you were allowed to go there. At the bus station there is a paper you need to sign. After that there is a military road block. They will ask you questions especially if you are a guy. After that you are there. But describing the place word by word I think need a book.
