direct query to the power BI dataset ( 6:51 ) is there any videos about it?

I have a dataset that is consumed by multiple reports. Now I am adding data from last 20 years to same data set but existing reports should only use last n number of years. Is there a way to filter last n years when connecting to shared dataset or my only option is to apply report filter on all reports

Hello Sir, I've created a report using Shared dataset. The report using some additional datasources as well. So Power BI created another dataset when I publish the report. Now the developer of original shared dataset added few more fields but those new fields not visible in my report even after refresh. Any suggestion what should I do?

Hello, I'm looking for a way to share just one tab/page of a report on the Power BI web with some people. I have 20 pages and I don't want to share all pages with them. Is there a way to do that?

Hi. I am using a shared dataset. When I am trying to embed the report in a web application, it is giving Bad Request. Do we need to set any permissions for that? However another report in the same workspace with its own dataset is getting embedded properly.

Thank you. What is your recommendation towards versioning?

Hi I have 4 different shared datasets dataset 1,2,3 and 4. On dataset 3 RLS is applied. Imported these all and built report. Report is embedded in application. Working on PBI service but in application not opening. Please can you help me on this problem. Using SQL server for data source.

Thnaksforyour video. I have around 20 tables .. all are linked. few reports use 6 tables , and few are 10 and few are 15 . in share dataset, all reports are unnecessary see the tables. Suppose I’ve to use only two tables on a report. I believe it will make unnecessary slow the data query. do you have any thought on this 1) I'm not able to add any additional query or dataflow or table, when i'm using share data set. is theer any way?

We use it in OMV for empowerment: Data Engineers are creating Data Sets, and any employee can create his own report. Additionally if employee enables "DirectQuery for PBI datasets and AS", he/she can add additional tables in the model

Can I have shared datasets in on premise report server? The company I work doesn't allow on cloud data. A video about how or alternatives would be nice.

Hi It was great , actually I used the share dataset in one big model. But I have a problem with speed. The matrix for data come directly from power BI service is very slow. Can u know the reason?

What is a chaint dataset? I really would love to know how you can get data from (maybe multiple) datasets and then still be able to model and transform

Thank you for the video. It's very useful. What about performance of the report with the shared dataset?

Hi Great video! I have one question though, how can I change a dataset for an EXISTING PBI report? The thing is that I created a PBIX file composed of 32 pages which I split when I finished my development into 8 dashboards of 4 pages each, however couldn't change their data source to one dataset instead of 8 identical datasets, is that possible to do in Power BI Pro?

Get video. Is that possible to also build a report with more than 1 share dataset?
@RADACAD2 жыл бұрын
yes, you can. but it won't be called live connection anymore. It means creating composite model with DirectQuery to the Power BI dataset. and it works very nice actually. highly recommended to check it. I have other videos about it.

Is there any way to stop sharing of datasets between workspaces? Thank you!
@RADACAD2 жыл бұрын
Those who have Build/View access to your dataset, can use it in any workspaces that they have access to. if you want to limit that, limit the access to the dataset to only people who won't use it in other workspaces

Ok but can I create a dataset without a report attached to it?
@RADACAD2 жыл бұрын
As mentioned in the blog already. When you publish PBIX from the desktop, the report is always published with the dataset. You can remove it after publishing, but the next publish will publish it again. So short answer; using Power BI Desktop, no. but the workaround is to remove it after publishing.
@davidlopez-fe2lb2 жыл бұрын
@@RADACAD Yup, this is what I do. It'll always publish both dataset & report, although my "report" is just the data model and I don't want anyone to see/use it, so I just publish any updates then remove the data model "report" and then just the shared data set lives in the workspace for usage.
@pjosifovic Жыл бұрын
@@davidlopez-fe2lb Do you recommend this approach for providing datasets to multiple users?
@davidlopez-fe2lb Жыл бұрын
@@pjosifovic you could do that if you are at an enterprise level and are responsible for managing all those assets. We have one "golden dataset" that has 99% of the data we need, there will always be some flat file floating out there that we'll need, and we give access to all our department teams and we use ourself.

Is it possible to make and dataflows on premium workspace (as in most situations pro license doesn’t allow some calculations) then use it on pro workspace in a report which will be shared with other pro users? Or all need premium? I have some many queries on my desktops so i would like to move and split them into data flows. No if this is a good idea. Much easier to identify error when refreshing
