~TL Notes~ Hosts: Shunpuutei Shoya is a shin'uchi. The master level of rakugoka. He's also Raden's oshi. Haruhara Yuki is a former teen idol, turned singer, turned radio personality. Makura - This is a type of introductory performance in rakugo. It can be tied into the theme of the main story, but can also just be about anything. Shoya talks about how they'll use it to gauge the audience to cater the performance to them. It's probably good for warming up both the performer and the audience too, kinda like how stand-up shows have openers. 1:40 - Narikin was a raguko group that Shoya was part of, they've since disbanded. 1:44 - Music Teito - A CD store that also hosted live performances. Shoya's rakugo group, Narikin performed there. 2:10 - Rakugoka still sell tickets to their own shows themselves, but you can also buy them online. It's kinda cool that you can still meet your favorite performers though and show your support. 2:32 - Shunpuutei Ryuujaku - Part of the group Narikin and was promoted to shin'uchi at the same time as Shunpuutei Shoya. It seems like since this promotion event was so special that the only way to get tickets was to buy them in person. 5:41 - The Incredible Teacup - A rakugo story about a strange teacup that leaked whatever you poured into it even though it looked perfectly fine with no flaws. 6:44 - I think there are a few English performances of Tenshiki on youtube if you're curious 12:37 - Play on words, her fans are called でん同士(Dendoushi/Denfriends) and her members are called 超でん同士(choudenshoushi/Super Denfriends). Dendou read differently 電導 refers to electrical conductivity. So, remove the resistance and it becomes a superconductor, choudendou 超電導, which also plays off of her membership, choudendoushi. 19:00 - They did a quiz segment, but it was just a staple of the show and wasn't related to Raden at all. The only thing that came of it was Raden and Yuki being like, "I have no idea" They play Raden's solo Shunkan Heartbeat from the second part. The story behind Shunkan Heartbeat is kinda neat. When all the girls recorded, it wasn't yet decided who would sing which part so they all just recorded the full song and then the parts were picked out afterward. So when you listen to the solo versions, each time you get to one of their parts it'll be the same as the full version.

Thank you for the translation and for the notes. I didn't know the story behind Shunkan Heartbeat but I had always thought the solo versions sounded extremely close to the all members version. It all makes sense now

Thanks for the translation! Pretty cool seeing Raden talk to other people, especially if it's people she looks up to. I noticed recently she had a collab with sumito owara (I think that was him, sorry if it wasnt) which I tuned in a little and thought was interesting.

Statsky coming through with another killer TL. Thank you! So cute Raden brought in one of her plushies with her. I don’t want to come across as a begger, but do you have plans for TLing the NHK radio program that Raden also MC’d for?

I saw that come out while I was working on this one(This took a while). Slow down, Raden! I can't keep up!!! I planned to work on it if no one else did though, so no worries.

Nervous Raden is so cute!!! xD I love Rakugo because of that Rakugo anime called Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju and Joshiraku. Because of Raden, I really want to see the real thing now! Amazing how the pros able to do their job while thinking about where is the afterparty or what's for dinner 🤣

I'll repeat what others have already said: thanks so much for all your Raden clips/translations. So much of what's fun and entertaining about her relies on knowing what she's talking about, so having long and well-translated clips is super helpful.

Thank you so much for this! I’m so proud and happy for Raden to be able to have this experience. I wish I understood Japanese because I would watch her streams all the time, she’s amazing. Akane-banashi got me interested in the art of rakugo, it does such a great job at explaining the art and industry to where I could follow this conversation, and any other time she talks about it with ease.

many many thanks for TL-ing this!! it was extremely interesting to listen to a conversation where people can bounce back and participate when raden talks about rakugo, and with someone she admires so much no less! i do hope that she’ll have more opportunities to be on the radio show and maybe even possibly become a regular? 👀

So, from hearing a little discussion on it, I got the impression that rakugo is something mostly older people attend. Is it undergoing a revival nowadays or is Raden just a bit unusual in her tastes?
@jcuum10 ай бұрын
While there are a LOT of factors involved, one that I think is quite relevant is that there is a currently-ongoing and somewhat popular manga that is all about rakugo named Akane-banashi. It's honestly REALLY GOOD and has made me interested in the art as well. And there's also the fact that JFT is a grandma's girl looool
